Transfering to EU Datacenter A to Datacenter B's future new server- Would it be free?

This question applies for NA servers too.

Right now we are being offered a free transfer from one DC to the other, due to the affected datacenters being split in two.

However, what about those of us who wish to move from our server (i.e. from Chaos) to the new server that they'll release in the other datacenter (i.e. to Light)?

Would that be free, since it is within the same region, or would we have to pay for a DC transfer if we opt out of the free DC transfers that are offered in April?

They have not made any official statement on the matter, so I'd like to know if there is any information I might have missed, or any precedent case.

To clarify, players can transfer to any data center they would like to during their free transfer availability period (of course, you still cannot transfer to Congested Worlds)! Users will not be restricted to their current data center. Hope this helps!

With the release of Stormblood, the new EU servers were free to transfer to if you came from a congested world, essentially, and they might do the same thing this time around to help congestion and help populate the new worlds.
But if it will be free even across datacenter is the mystery I'd like to get an answer for. So far they spoke only of the shuffle, but have not given any real information about the new servers at all.

I wouldn't expect any information about the new servers until closer to Shadowbringers' launch.
At this juncton they probably don't have any concrete information themselves. I imagine that while they do have the hardware for the new servers lined up they'll want to wait and see how this server shuffle pans out in regards to the population of each server.
While we initially get a 50/50 split there is a lot of talk of people planning to move to this or that DC for varying reasons. It could be that after things have settled down there's enough low population servers left in one (or, while unlikely, both) DC that they don't need to add another new server to the DC just yet and designate one of the existing servers the preferred world.
Shutting down/merging underpopulated servers is always bad press so I imagine they want to be sure there's demand for a new server before making it available.

They're probably holding off on that information since the data center shuffle is closer. That being said, current policy lists any transfers to new worlds as free; while there aren't any new worlds right now, we can presume that anyone wanting to transfer to a new world, regardless of whether or not they're on a congested world or on the same data center, will be able to transfer to those new worlds. That is, of course, presuming they don't change policy, but I'm not sure that's likely. Preferred worlds will still require you to be transferring from a congested world for it to be free.

Transfer from ANY world to a NEW world = free of charge, even past the 2 weeks of server reshuffle, this offer remains until the server is no longer designated as new. After transferring to a NEW world a 90 days transfer restriction is applied, the free transfer of reshuffle will not override this, so be careful when moving into a new world.

Transfer from ANY world into a STANDARD world = free of charge, only for 2 weeks, there's a 3 days transfer restriction before you can transfer again for free.

Transfer from a STANDARD or PREFERRED world into a PREFERRED world = free of charge, only for 2 weeks, there's a 3 days transfer restriction before you can transfer again for free and the 90 days restriction does not apply.


That said, in OP's case if he wants to transfer into a new world after it's released (probably 5.0?) your transfer will be free as you fall under the first case, but it's an one-way transfer and it puts the 90 days restriction once you move in.
