    Game crashes every time I start a battle.

    So when I first got this game I was able to install and play the game fine for several hours (a couple of days ago.). Later I had to move and transport my computer to another place and I tried to play the game again, but when I entered a battle, after a few seconds, the game totally crashes. It crashes so bad that I have to force restart my computer.

    I have tried updating my graphics card, re-installing the game, troubleshooting things in the FFXIV config, but since I have to force restart every single time it crashes, I am not able to troubleshoot that much. I have searched the web for anyone who has the same problem, but the only thing that comes close is the macro crash, and I am not using any macros. I have already sent Support and email with all of the details and specs. So if anyone has any idea or shares the same problem, let me know(It's REALLY frustrating)! Thanks.

    Your computer specs might help.
    But the first thing you could try is running checkdisk. Broken sectors on the HDD is often the cause of system crashes.

    Agreed on the computer specs. It's hard to say what it could be just yet, but it may give us some insight.

    I *think* you can speed pull those specs out using the FFXIV Config > System Information. Or possibly doing a Run on Dxdiag, Save All Information, and posting the first few sections here.

    So I just tried to enter a battle again after updating and the checkdisk, and the game still crashes.

    What GPU driver version are you using? And did you enable the first checkbox when running checkdisk? (this is important or nothing gets fixed)

    Do you have other 3d games you could try for a couple minutes to see if it's FF14 exclusive?

    Is their a blue screen with error message? A horrid choppy audio sound associated with the freeze? Or an insta reboot?

    try turning down the settings in FFxiv config. if it helps then it means 1 or more of your pc parts are not up to par.

    What do you mean it crashes so bad you have to restart your computer? And when the game crashes what does it say? Run event viewer, click on custom view, then administrative events. Find the one referring to FFXIV and copy and paste what it says in here.

    I am currently not using my PC right now and wont be for a few days so I'll answer the questions to the best of my knowledge.

    @Coldfire: Yes I did enable the checkbox. I have tried playing the game with a version from Dec and as I said in the recent post, I JUST updated to the newest one (not sure exactly what the numbers are.) And It still doesn't work.

    @Fiosha/ShadowedIce: I have been able to play other 3D games just fine after I've been having trouble with FFXIV. This is exactly how the game plays out when it freezes; I attack once or twice, auto actions stop happening, but the typical stance animations are still playing until I hover my mouse over the screen or click. The screen lightens as typical programs do when they freeze, the music is still playing. The error box comes up that says the typical ' Such and such has stopped working would you like to 'close the program' or 'wait for it to respond'? and I have chosen both paths and nothing happens. I try to ctrl-alt-del to try and force close/end process and nothing happens. I have let the crashed program sit in the background for about an hour just to see if it will close eventually, but it does not. When I try to shut down through the start menu it just stays in the 'shutting down' phase forever. I have to force shut down, as in hold down the power button, until my computer shuts down. There is no blue screen and no audio malfunction.

    @Syntaxlies: I have tried this.

    I still have not received an email from support and I sent one out Sunday night.
