You will see what will happen to you when you acquire a in game home! Its amazing what you can do with the housing system it gives a new meaning to the word home.

I've been in the exact same boat as you, and as of June last year XIV was my main game of choice.

After the layoffs and earnings report last night, I'm done with Hacktivision-Lolzzard. I've removed all of their products from my PC and I refuse to play or purchase any of their content until they shape the heck up.

I think WoW is still the better game for dungeons, healer design and raiding, which are all things that are huge priorities to me, so I will continue playing it. But other people have different priorities, and I get that the mass layoffs, especially of community figures like Ythisens, don't exactly inspire confidence in the company or the game these days, so I can't fault you for switching.

I myself joined up FFXIV after quitting WoW, but this was like almost 7 years ago. I had actually quit Wow about 10 years ago. For the 3 year intermittent period between, I was playing World of Tanks mainly as all I ever did. I still play World of Tanks, but now that is more of a side ho.

When I heard about the ARR beta, I tried it out and realized it was a revamp of the older FF14 that I was also once part of the beta for. But it had enough of a refined quality to it that made me want to invest in it and 2.0 launches with me buying the first collector's edition!

The game gets boring at some point and you feel like it flatlines with nothing new to do. But it's worthwhile to hang on and try to be as productive with your character as possible. Because pending updates tend to be worth it. Yoshida has done a great job if introducing updates that are impactful with new additional content that resuscitate the game, even if only for a month.

For a while now I chuckled at the thought of "WoW Refugees" going to other mmos, XIV and ESO in particular....until I ended up booting up XIV 3 weeks ago and went back to Mol Iloh where Temulun welcomed me back home.

I know I'm going to get labeled a "hater" here, but tbh most of it is probably empty PR. Looking at the jobs listed here, basically none of these positions are applicable to the skillsets of the people Blizzard fired, who were mostly GMs/CMs/marketing/esports-related. Even LinkedIn doesn't have a ton of offerings relative to the positions Blizz canned; it's all stuff like senior artists and Japanese bi-lingual devs.

I have no doubt some of the Blizzard employees might be able to find a new position with Square, but not many and for the most part this is just low-hanging fruit PR-wise for SE.
