I've had some fun helping a freind level on fates using my blu. Any boss fate can be destroyed in like 30 seconds with missle / tail screw.

I'm the definition of a "casual" so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But it's the end of an expansion. There are always lulls at the end of an expansion in pretty much every MMO to ever release. I don't get why this is such a surprising thing for people these days. You're tired of this formula? I hear players complaining about this all the time. No matter what the devs release, people will try to clear it as fast as possible then complain they're bored. A common comparison is WoW content and even that one the highest difficulty is cleared my top players within a week or two at most.
So as a casual player, I'm curious what bored players want? What is going to fix the content drought between expansions that, like I already stated, is a thing in all MMOs? Because at this point they're preparing for the expansion, SB is pretty much done. We're getting new content in like 5 months. If you're that bored, take a break and play some other games so you don't completely burn yourself out before the expansion releases.
Honestly I don't think the devs will ever truly be able to satisfy all players.
FFIX is one of the better MMO out there in regards to supplying fresh contents every week during patch maintenance. There are mostly small contents here and there (0.0X), quite insignificant compare to larger patch number (0.X), but still it's thoughtful for them to give us something else to do during lull time (like Chinese New Year or Valentine Day specific quests). Besides, I CAN NOT stress enough the importance of the challenge log. Gil / GC seals/ and Experience in nice chucks for simply completing certain "tasks". Other options would be leveling crafting / gathering classes.
Lots of people burn out because of grind. But grinding is one's own perrogative. I find it really depressing that so many people only seem to derive fun from reaching material goals in MMOs. I mean, if that's what you like to do, then there's nothing wrong with that, but if you find the grind tedious, then why are you doing it?
Other players derive fun from trying to clear things as fast as possible and maximize their DPS. This is a much more sustainable gameplay style because it's an immaterial goal. No matter how fast you go, you can always improve and go faster.
Personally, I can't say I'm fond of the speedfarm culture in MMOs. I'd rather see people do things for the sake of challenging themselves to actually clear (i.e. by self-imposing limitations and tackling older content), rather than challenging themselves to faceroll quickly, but what can you do, I guess.
Ah, ok, I figured that would be the case.
I've felt extremely unmotivated to do anything in the new Eureka yet.
