Suddenly feel bored after 4.55 released

    *sorry my English*

The 4.5 24man raid was amazing in the first three runs (I played FFT & love it)
BLU is fun for the first three days.
I was a little hyped by 5.0, new zones are beautiful, I have pre ordered it.

I must admit XIV story is very good, it's on par with the best single player RPG. but it's an one time experience., because MMO = grind, I know.

Then 4.55 released, another Eureka and fate train.
Eureka is not the worst in the game, at least it's better than the open world in this game,
in fact, Eureka is one of the best content in this game IMO,
because there's sense of adventure(not much), because the mobs has some life in it(not much).

Same old music, same fate train, ah.. ok I know, MMO=grind, I know, I can grind, I've one main & four alts, I've 100mil+ gil & six houses

Time to grind right? But I have no motivation,
because I know the relic will become total trash after 3 months
I am sick and tired of this formula already, there's no end & reward nothing, yes, NOTHING.
Ask yourself, SB had released two years, you grind a lot, but what have you got?

4.55 just released what? two days?
I know I am not the only one who feels this way

Eureka is not for everyone. There's no real need to get the Relic either. There are other options (tokens, Savage, Extreme, etc). If it's for the look, then yeah, you just need to slog through it. Relics have always been a long, long term investment.

And yeah, gear will be replaced roughly every 3-4 months. As you say, that's how MMOs work. You can always take a break and come back for 5.0 or maybe a month or two before.

Have you considered leveling an alt on your server or another. Given you're straight 70's in everything it's kind of hard to produce content that will keep you busy for long until something like xpac hits. I know i have a lot of fun with mine.

Why does everyone say gear gets replaced after 3-4 months when we only get new gear tiers every 8 months?!

Filler stuffs get replaced quicker, but my savage weapon or a savage body armor or some ilvl 400 accesoires will have been equipped for about 8-9 months in July when expansions comes out.

I also feel that grinding is overused in MMO's. We should encourage developers to look for more creative or interesting ways to provide longevity. In the meantime though, as long as the game provides something interesting to do, it's worth it to keep playing. If you don't know what to do for yourself, maybe consider assisting other people in achieving their goals. Help newer players progress or learn about the game, or something along those lines.

If you really feel like there is nothing to do, stepping away from the game for some time is fine too.

So, this is besically a remake of your thread from 2 days ago in which you talked about how you dislike the gear-progression in this game?

Let me tell you what I got after two years of SB:

I got all my Ex-primal mounts and the fox-mount I wanted since I first saw the foxlady in Yanxia and guessed and hoped that she would turn out to be our "leader"-mount. My ever improving gear helped me to achieve this goal.

I had a lot of fun with my static, playing our way through the second and currently third tier of Omega-Savage. Our improving gear helped us to clear fights with more ease eventually.

I got to see and play through amazing stories - not only the mainstory, but other aswell. Getting better gear allowed me to continue with that.

I'm hoarding pieces of gear for glamour purposes and I will continue to do so!

I only went into Eureka to make the AF-gear-sets dyeable and even though their ilvl is way, way to low to be used for anything... I dont regret that, because they'll serve me as glamour-pieces for the rest of the game. My bard has dyed AF-shoes glamoured right now - the stats dont matter, but the looks... the looks are forever. And I still feel like I achieved something here - and if its only a good looking bard-glamour.

To me, replacing gear was never an issue - but mainly, because I dont consider gear to be my endgoal. I have other endgoals and I achieved almost all of them by playing through Stormblood - most required the help of better gear and stats, so I went and got those better gear. But unless the gear itself looks nice (and thus never loses its value as glamour-piece to me), I dont consider gear something that I achieve but only as means to achieve my real goals.
I have enough to show for the effort I put into this expansion: My mounts, lots of fun, time spent with friends, nice glamour-pieces. Replacing gear that I'm only wearing for the stats has never bothered me and never will.
Gear is a tool, not the endgoal - at least for me.

So much in regards to my feelings towards gear... if you cant share any of those (or similar) feelings in regards to the relic, it might not be worth it to you, thats true.
And its normal to feel unmotivated, burnt out and as if you have nothing to do in the game anymore - taking a break or trying something completly new can help!
Ever since I got all my ex-primal mounts I feel a little lost aswell, but thats okay for me aswell. I got what I wanted, nothing will lose its value to me and I'm ready for Shadowbringers!

I can only advise everyone not to view stats and gear as their endgoal, but rather as means to an end. I understand that reaching the highste ilvl possible might be a valid goal for people, but I'm not sure if thats one thats working out to well in this game! BUT there are other things to work towards - mounts, pets, glamour...
Personally, I'm trying to get through Eureka atm - not because of the relic, but because I wanna see the story, experience the Pyros-actions and maybe get a mount or something out of a lootbox. And no expansion, no ilvl-raise, no new gear is going to take any of that away from me.

great post. i especially agree with this part. a lot of people i chat with mention upgrading their gear to max level but never doing any content that that gear would be useful in. I've always looked at gear as a means to an end, clearing hard content/getting savage weapon/getting a mount/etc, but a surprising amount of people just care about the gear itself and it took me a while to realize and accept this.

Im currently waiting for Seiryus mount to be tradable (stopped at 99 totems) and working on 3 relics in Hydratos. But the stats dont matter, I already have 3 Omega weapons. The Ozma mount is a stretch goal but I'm definitely going to try to get it before the expansion.

What were you expecting? If you've invested that much time in this game then you should've known that the system here is the system to this game. I'm not trying to be mean but I dunno why after 5 years people think xiv is going to be a completely different game when it's been xiv for the past 5 years. And honestly I dont bvb think poo people REALLY want something different. Blu is a good example of changing the way a job is handled and look how that worked out. It was new and different and everyone exploded on se on why it was different. Yes it was on a job but do you really think people wont cry if all of a sudden all the tokens were gone and they replaced all the ways to gear up? You think that'll go over smoothly?

That would be their 6th char though. If you have 5 already and have nothing interesting to do, a 6th isn't going to help anything.

I didn't know she/he has alts. I have them and I'm always busy and i play this game more than most.

Edit: I missed the part about the alts in their OP. Hard to read carefully and do dungeons/expert at the same time :P
