Doubtful, considering there was text specific to them in the Gladiator class quests amongst other things.
does anyone have a screenshot of this?
Even then it would just be easier to set the quest step to "Apply the Hrothgar glamour" and have the step text be generic across all races once applied. No need to make it more complex, and open the path to bugs, if everyone gets the same thing anyway.
Hrothgar was a Danish king, so logically they will be a race of sentient pastry created through the fusion of ancient alchemical and culinary arts similar to their tuber-based relatives the Lalafell.
I hope they look like the Moombas from FF8. People wanted little short Viera because they felt we were lacking in small cute races like lalafell. I think this would be perfect!
It would! And it would make sense about being the male version of viera while being classified as a different race. There’s a such thing as a lionheaded rabbit and moombas kinda look like them.
And then there’s the strange line the dramaturge says about male and female viera being indistinguishable until they’re around 13 and then there’s no mistaking them. What if it’s because the males remain small and fierce little rabbit lions while the females grow tall like Fran etc?
I have my crazy theory on the Hrothgar, and it is probably the least popular opinion given what information has been thrown out there about them, but this is my theory.
However, I don't dismiss that maybe Hrothgar means "Male Viera" lore wise, but lets say it does-- Lets say "The manes" is not even dealing with lions...
For one, in older English (which 14 loves to use) Mane is a reference to long, flowing hair seen on people, so it could refer to a man or woman with flowing, beautiful mane (aka Their hair); Normally this is seen for the use of men with long hair.
The other is dealing with the rumor of the "lion" side of things, while maybe it could be a lion like race (again, maybe the male Viera look more lion than rabbit, maybe a new lion-race aka Ronso), but if we look at the Ivalice storyline, it deals with a story dealing with Lions also know as the War of the Lions or--- Zodiac Story.
I don't want to get into great details, but if you spoke with all the NPCs leading up to the third part, it was all about one particular race we been dealing with since 1.0. Maybe, just maybe "Hrothgar" is their actual racial name, and they just call themselves "Purebloods" to sound better than all the other races.
And this could be wrong, I am not gonna bet money on my theory and I know folks are gonna say: "They can't use magic!" .. But I think somewhere it said that a rare few /can/, but they don't cause no one teaches it-- and you have that whole Eye of Resonate thing, which I realized looking back-- Neal Van Darnus was using during 1.0 story.
But yeah, its my theory. I'm gonna stick to my crazy theory, because in the end, we will all find out what is going down in March and I'm excited for whatever may come!
Maybe keep the conversation on topic.
There's more than a few posts in this thread that you could transplant into the other one and it would look like they were originally posted there. In a thread meant to discuss specifically the Hrothgar, that's off-topic, and the stubbornness in not staying on topic is a problem that should be called out.
Yay! Someone who knows Breath of Fire! I already liked you but now I like you even more! I'd fantasia to one too if they look like that. But I don't want to if there's any gender lock of either race. That might just make me quit instead.
Hoping for the best case scenario that we get two full races! I'd prefer if they skip the horns though if they're based off of Ronso. As someone else pointed out, it wouldn't work with smn horns or gear that goes across the forehead. And 99% of the time when I play my main, I use my summoner dong. I'd also hate for them to do an Au Ra on us and lock horns to faces. D:
