The dialogue can be changed if players really do play a male Viera and talk to the dramaturge for example.
Coming here and talking about lore, defending it while many already gave many examples of how "lore-breaking" a playable race already is, is just a weak argument. Just as Yugiri hides her face, telling you that her appearance might put you off while you are playing a Xaela yourself. MSQ vs. Playable characters is still something that can be countered vice versa.

Not to mention, we are taking their refugees now. Veira children don't show their gender for a while (comparative to our other races) so the likelihood of Eorzea getting Male Veira lore wise is pretty good.

We don't know what the Rak'tika Greatwood is in relation to the Viera as a race. The current lore only mentions Golmore. It could be a fringe settlement of Viera completely unconnected to those of Golmore.

It's worth noting that the lore in FFXIV regarding Viera is in the Raid content, not the MSQ. So the average player may not even see that lore. Second, while lore says "Oh theyre rare", it doesnt say they dont exist and frankly it can be easily written that theyve come out of 'hiding', which woudl explain their increased numbers.

-FFXIV Stuff happens.
-Male Viera "Oh hey, maybe we should help do somethigna bout this." Comes otu of hiding en mass.
-In game NPCs "Oh look at these guys showing up! They were rare before but now theyre here cause plot reasons!"
- Game goes on and no one bats an eye about it after.

Also worth noting, teh current lore can be retconned to say "It used to be very rare a non Viera has seen a male Viera".

Shame there are no images of the race or at least I haven't seen them. And that appears it's going to be a surprise for many of us. Seems most of everything else was spoiled in advance anyway although it didn't lessen my excitement when i learned of our new race/s. I was personally disappointed we didn't' get a new race for Heavensward and can't wait for the benchmark to play with the new ones.

My point was that they could be inherently linked. We don't know enough about them to rule out the possibility that Hrothgar could effectively be our male Viera counterparts.

You can easily explain away mass male Viera / Miqote lore wise by just saying, "oh look, a calamity has cause a disturbance in the aether which is causing more and more male mi'qote and viera to be born... easy...

It matter's a lot more in the French localization. That's how we even found out about hrothgar. I kinda want to go play a scary fem Hrothgar in French just to get NPCs reactions. Buuut I don't speak French.



I don't care, that's the gender-locking thread, this is the hrothgar thread. People are less likely to come here to talk and hype about Hrothgar if half of it is about male viera complaints.

Until we know more about them, we cant say they're not related.

There's more than a few posts in this thread that you could transplant into the other one and it would look like they were originally posted there. In a thread meant to discuss specifically the Hrothgar, that's off-topic, and the stubbornness in not staying on topic is a problem that should be called out.
