Still enjoying it more everyday. I am glad I made the switch.

It's the best MMORPG out there right now. Feel free to tell me why not.
There are several English speaking non-development jobs posted... in Europe however. Do you really expect SE to have 800 non-development jobs open?I know I'm going to get labeled a "hater" here, but tbh most of it is probably empty PR. Looking at the jobs listed here, basically none of these positions are applicable to the skillsets of the people Blizzard fired, who were mostly GMs/CMs/marketing/esports-related. Even LinkedIn doesn't have a ton of offerings relative to the positions Blizz canned; it's all stuff like senior artists and Japanese bi-lingual devs.
I have no doubt some of the Blizzard employees might be able to find a new position with Square, but not many and for the most part this is just low-hanging fruit PR-wise for SE.
I personally like WoW´s gameplay better. It´s way more fluid, and I don´t only mean the battles but the questing too. WoW´s open world also helps having that perception, since in FFXIV it looks like you are changing screens after every second step.
That said, overall I like FFXIV much more. Beginning with the story, which is great and leaves you hyped for the next patch to see how it continues, while in WoW it´s retcon after retcon and lack of coherence everywhere for the sake of "rule of cool". I also feel like FFXIV´s endgame is much better: while both of them rely heavily on grinds I feel like FFIV has a higher variety of content to do: between Wondrous Tails, Eureka, weekly tomestones, daily roulettes and levelling all Jobs, to name a few. Lastly, I also feel the community is much better. What kills the community in WoW are the stupid factions and the constant fights between players who favor one over the other.
I also would like to mention SWTOR, which has an amazing story, where you can even decide the outcome of some quests, but falls short in all other departments, specially if you don´t pay for it.
On the one hand, the limited loading screen is nice. On the other hand, every time I teleport, the loading in WoW takes way longer on average for me than in FFXIV. I also suspect that open world feel of the zones is part of the reason why WoW has to resort to so-called sharding more often, which is not great to see happening.
WoW created what they referred to as "seamless instance transitions" in a documentary they released a few years back. That's why you can go from Elwynn to Westfall without experiencing a loading screen even though they are technically separate instances the way the zones in FFXIV are.On the one hand, the limited loading screen is nice. It's also why passengers would get dumped off 2 player flying mounts and fall to their deaths when crossing over zone boundaries for the first few years after CRZ was released. The server had to decide which instance it was going to place the players in and one player would load to the new instance faster than the other causing the dismount. It's possible it's related to why your load screens going between world (continent) servers takes longer but I can't say for certain.
It's got nothing to do with sharding, which is based on the population in those separate zone instances. Blizzard resorted to shoving players from too many servers into the same zone instance then has to shard to break them back up into populations the instance can handle. And sharding is one of the main reasons many of us won't go back to WoW again. Pretty disappointing to find they intend to use it for Classic (and no I don't believe them when they say it will only be temporary).
It seems like a wasted effort then, but oh well. It's got nothing to do with sharding, which is based on the population in those separate zone instances. I've also stopped my WoW sub due to the recent behaviour of Scumivision and the job losses. So with no WoW, I started my FF account back up.
I followed the tweet link... hmmm....

Looks like most of their job openings in El Segundo are marketing.
Ion used to be a lawyer and is now a Game Director. I'm not sure what the average CM's educational background is, but they probably have varying educations and a shared eagerness to get their foot in the door of a good gaming company and sometimes take lower positions to work in and up.I know I'm going to get labeled a "hater" here, but tbh most of it is probably empty PR.
