Struggling to find another person to get thru this game with and everyone on this server seems to ignore anyway no matter how suitable/experienced/nice I have to say! Its ruining the game experience for me!....any ideas

Get a LS would be my inicial idea. There should be several on your server. If that doesnt help then you have the server merge today that might help to better your situation.

I must be nooby then, how to actually join LS in-game? Searching/requesting/friending doesn't seem to be working and the ads I see on here don't happen and suddenly close, removes the fun of it all having to harrass players to get a group together...

The way i got mine is that i signed up on their homepage and they later responded to me ingame. dont know about your server but on mine that worked.

Have been doing so on n off for several hours now, getting a lot of hate replies in return - is this really the sad reality behind MMOs?

A lot of people start these kind of games with friends, so that may be why it's difficult to find people. (Also, 8 person parties also tend to limit the amount of players linkshells want.) I would think you'd have more luck doing some runs with some people doing endgame content or leveling, then politely ask them if they know any linkshells that are recruiting. Being nice and friendly, and not forceful, will most likely help you with your goal of joining a linkshell. There are often people shouting in Ul'dah for recruitment or looking for members so hit some of them up. It could be that a lot of players are waiting til after the merge to do recruiting as well, so keep that in mind.

Shouts are a bad idea. NO one knows who you are. For them it's like picking up a hitchhiker. You could make a new friend, or you could end up in pieces strewn in strategic locations along the highway....

After server merge, please check out the LS's websites, look at their rules, and their main goals (winning everything, having fun, crafting social experiences... etc) Find one that fits you and sign up.

I hope your situation improves when the merger happens. My server always has ppl shouting for LS recruitment and while its not as easy to find PT's outside of an LS as it used to, you can find them. And if you PT with the same ppl for a few hours you can usually have someone at the end thats looking for an LS or asking for you to join theirs.

It is very unfortunate that with a struggling game no one is willing to accept new players and grow the community on your server and I wish you luck in the merger! If that animosity continues afterwards your new server may have a long row to hoe.
