    New idea about Glamour plate.

    Hello everyone.

We all know that glamour is the real endgame but sometime ten glamour plates are not enough for what we want to do.

My probleme is about role variation for heal (scholar, white mage and astro) or for tank (warrior, paladin or dark knight) for exemple.

For exemple, I use two glamour plate for my heal. One for my scholar and the other for my white mage, all part are the same except for the skirt (scholar job skirt).

So my idea is, instead of using a new plate for small variation, why not have an option for alternate part.

You can see a small button for select with part we want before apply on our equipment.

It will save some space to make more glamour plate and can virtually raise the amount of glamour plate we have. I hope this can be read by dev team.

Thank you for reading and sorry if there is mistake english is not my native language.

    See you in game o/

Would it not be better to increase the number of plates instead?

Why not both? More plate and alternative part option can totally work together and increase the amount of glam we can make. It's all win

Adding "alternative part" slots would probably take up the same data space as another plate anyway, so I don't think it would actually add anything (vs increasing the number of plates) except make the UI a bit more cluttered, and more confusing to display the glamour pieces in the preview window.

I'd rather have the ability to switch glamours for job-specific items when I change jobs instead of having to do it myself.

For instance: why can't I have BLM, SMN, and RDM all wearing the same gear but with a different glamour set on each?

The simple answer is that the glamours are tied to the 'physical' gear pieces, and they only have space to store one piece of glamour information.

I have no idea if that could be changed, but they don't seem willing to tinker with it. It would probably mean a lot more data has to be stored and transmitted overall, adding an extra slot of item information to potentially every piece of gear in your inventory.

(A compromise adding a secondary glamour slot to only body pieces would be nice. I've built a few costumes around using the same gloves/pants/shoes with different coats, though of course it's not ideal.)

Glamour plates do give you the limited ability to switch job-specific glamours when you change jobs, if you link the gearset with a glamour plate. You have to be in a town area where glamour plates can be applied though, or it won't work.

Essentially this. With more Glamour Plates you could have more varied glamours by linking the plates, but unless the players are allowed switch them outside of towns/residential areas then it's still only half baked for success. Also the spam of "X takes on the appearance of Y" would need to have an option to filter in the chat, as nothing exists specifically for it at the moment.

They tried to alleviate this with gearset attached plates. You can attach a specific plate to gearset and it automatically uses it when switching to said gearset. The caveat is, it only works if you switch gearset (job) in area where you can use plates normally so if so I switch job "on the field" it'll keep the previous look. On gearset menu, this should be among right click menu for gearsets.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

Interesting, I didn't know that was an option. Still feels like a kludge though.

I also can't help but notice that WoW HAS managed to figure this out on their umpteen-year old engine of antiquity and spaghetti code.

It feels to me like the prototype of what could eventually be a good feature, because it would work fine if they would:
    (A) let us apply glamour plates wherever we can change jobs and
    (B) add at least enough plates for all the jobs in the game (plus ideally a few extra).
In other words, if they'd make the two most frequently requested improvements to the system.

I currently use it to separate out different glamours for each of my crafting jobs (which all share the same gear). Since I usually do my crafting in town or at my house anyway, the in-town-only rule isn't as much of a problem for those. But it uses up eight of my glamour plates, meaning I only get a couple others for whichever combat jobs I'm currently focusing most of my attention on.
