I have 0 trust in the GM's to not abuse this... because it is vague and leads them to have to make calls based on....their personal feelings. How is that fair or consistent at all?Am I the only one who has at least a modicum in trust in GM’s etc to not abuse this lol?
Idk it’s rare for me to defend dev decisions lol, I usually disagree or I’m indifferent. But I feel like thinking these new rules are going to be used to ban everyone with an opinion is maybe a bit of a knee jerk reaction. I highly doubt anyone is going is going to get banned for saying ‘I’m sorry but I disagree because [Logical Reasoning]’.
Now, if you said something like ‘ur opinion is worthless because you’re x on DPS list / a specific race or job / less well geared / etc’. Then you’re not really disagreeing with them, are you? You’re disagreeing with some arbitrary aspect of that person and not their opinion itself.
Basically, you can disagree with people, but don’t be a bastard about it. Is that really such a bad thing to ask lol?
Hopefully this makes it easier for them to deal with harassment / stalking / abuse etc that they had trouble with before.
So yeah, I understand why people would be worried that the new ‘rules’ can potentially abused. But I disagree that adding them will affect normal players in any way. If you do get banned, I’d like to assume there’s a reason for it lol
Reading some of the comments in here, it actually surprises me how much people blindly trust in authority. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's more a case that I know I behave myself. I also know that losing a game account, no matter how much time I've put into a game, is meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
If these were laws that were about to go live for my country or town, I'd have a different mindset.
*eating popcorn*
I see there can't be middle ground and 0 trust in the GM and with that no trust in SE.
Which it's very sad in the end because it raises a question : why pay for a service you mistrust?
It's ok anyway since activity in the thread will display the interest and worries of the players , which I presume will end in them providing a more detailed presentation of the changes made.
One can only hope....
There is no limit that can not be passed
I pay to play the game because I find it fun and worth the cost.
The mistrust has been earned through their own actions as a company. This even extends to its official store.
Take that as you may.

How the heck do you even report anything? I saw a group of 5 Lalafel mages teleporting around and for the life of me could not find the report feature?
I already stated that I used to report similar behavior whenever I saw it occurring in zones but I never received a response from the GM team for any of these reports, so I don't even know if they care. I mean, I don't need a "thank you" or a pat on the back, but a least some sort of confirmation of receipt so I'd know the information has at least been filed. ofc, it required extra effort on my end since I play on PS4 and apparently you can include screenshots or chat log snippets on your reports on PC. PS4 doesn't have that feature, so I was taking screenshots, then going between the game and my screen capture folder to refer to the images so I could get the names written correctly in my report.
tl;dr Don't Bother
p.s. Game not on right now... but it's under the System tab on the far right, think there is "Contact ____" sub menu that opens another tab for sending reports. iirc, there are also options to report bugs and other problems too.
So this is how liberty dies...with thunderous applause.
One thing that struck me as strange in this whole thing(aside from the parts that keep getting repeated over and over for being vague, anyway) was this line
Below is a non-exhaustive list of behaviour that could constitute harassment in Final Fantasy XIV:
・Disclosing or indicating personal information such as contact details with the aim of meeting up in the real world
Guess we gotta go to Discord or something if we want to be able to contact our friends to meet up at a Fanfest instead of just sending them a tell with a phone number or something. And no, this one isn't talking about "Other people's personal information", as that's covered in the line under it.
・Disclosing or indicating another person's real world personal information without permission
That one makes sense, the first one just strikes me as really silly, especially considering it's listed under Harassment. Like, that can't be right, can it? I know two couples that met in MMOs and got married, being unable to exchange info would've been an issue for those two couples, to say the least.
I think this is more about being in the context of harassment. One thing that struck me as strange in this whole thing(aside from the parts that keep getting repeated over and over for being vague, anyway) was this line

If someone has asked for your details, then give them, 'tell' it to them if you want to be completely safe, they're not going to be reporting you are they?
If they don't want anything to do with you, don't force them to contact you outside of the game.
Or if someone has pressured you into contacting them outside of the game, don't give them your details to placate them.
