I have also been stalked, literally, in game, and later irl. And the only thing suggested I could do was blacklist them. He would still follow me everywhere just to stand in front of me to spam emotes, every single day.

Someone stalking you IRL is SE's responsibility? At that point it's gone a bit beyond their jurisdiction.

There are those people out there for which finding offense with something is their goal. You do not have to articulate a response in debate anymore, merely find a reason to be offended and win.

I don't think GM's directly handle the bot issues, that's for the STF to handle. I'm pretty sure people making frivolous reports will be warned, just as they are currently.

That's cool. Then you accept that another player can claim you are harassing them by you behaving this way. You are not a member of this person's FC, a friend, or any kind of confidant where your advice is solicited. You are literally going to waste not only your time, but everyone else's as well trying to get this player to see 2+2=4.

So offering advice to strangers is considered rude? gotcha.. this is the sort of thing that should be detailed.

He wss not even banned or warned about stopping. He went as far as to find me in social network to pester me, my sister and bf. That's creepy, and all I could do was blacklist him. So basically anyone could stalk you in game and nothing would happen.

Remember everyone. Most of this is lawyer speak. Yes these update rules seem imposing on some players as their behavior might be deemed bannable. But like the Performance addition to the game, these ToS updates just cover a broader range of topics and likely will not get a player banned.

Idk it’s rare for me to defend dev decisions lol, I usually disagree or I’m indifferent. But I feel like thinking these new rules are going to be used to ban everyone with an opinion is maybe a bit of a knee jerk reaction. I highly doubt anyone is going is going to get banned for saying ‘I’m sorry but I disagree because [Logical Reasoning]’.

Now, if you said something like ‘ur opinion is worthless because you’re x on DPS list / a specific race or job / less well geared / etc’. Then you’re not really disagreeing with them, are you? You’re disagreeing with some arbitrary aspect of that person and not their opinion itself.

Basically, you can disagree with people, but don’t be a bastard about it. Is that really such a bad thing to ask lol?

Hopefully this makes it easier for them to deal with harassment / stalking / abuse etc that they had trouble with before.

So yeah, I understand why people would be worried that the new ‘rules’ can potentially abused. But I disagree that adding them will affect normal players in any way. If you do get banned, I’d like to assume there’s a reason for it lol

So a few things. Yes, the GMs shouldve investigated and possibly suspended the account of hte person in question. But in regards to the IRL stuff, that should be handled with relevant sources. This would be things like local police and contacting social media reps and telling them of the situation. There rae issues that are within SEs control and should be handled, and then there are some which is out of their control. IRL stuff is not their territory so its not relevant. Not that there arent creepers who do creeper things, but in the case of what SE can do, it doesnt matter that hes stalking you IRL in regards to them handling him in game. Thats a bit harsh to say, but thats just the way it is. But as I said, they couldve easily handled the in game issue.

Also, I am not 100% sure of this, but does blacklisting someone stop them from displaying emotes at you? Can someone confirm or deny that?

I am aware irl stalking has little to do with this, but I merely mentioned it to let you know the magnitude of the stalking that took place. People seem to keep only the irrelevant information in mind. (not trying to be rude or mean)

And you can still see them. You just don't get the chat spam. From experience.
