Other thing is keyboard for commands. On controller scheme, keyboard is by default set to go straight to chat. This can be toggled by a setting. (Can't recall now exactly where, somone better at settings-fu could add it)

Character Configuration -> Control Settings -> General -> Enable direct chat

With that box checked, typing automatically moves focus to the chat box. With it unchecked, typing activates corresponding key-mapped actions unless you manually select the chat box first. (That's only for the main section of the keyboard, though. Function keys as well as extras like Insert, Home, Page Up/Down and so on can activate key-mapped actions in either scheme.)
