    Making Positionals Easier To Remember

    Hello!

So i am a casual Melee DPS player, but when i do want to play i am usually overwhelmed and more than a bit frustrated with positionals. For 2 reasons mainly.

    1. exactly where does front, flank and rear start and begin. i have seen some people move in big movements, but then others saying it is not needed. the arrow indicator when targeting is not very intuitive with that.
solution: i would like to see a visual change in the target arrow. so lets say i am directly facing a mob in front then there is an arrow pointing AT the mob in the default yellow color, but if i move to the flank change the color again, then in the rear a 3rd color. i know this can present a challenge to the color blind, but maybe a large enough hue shift would still be better than nothing.

    2. i can NEVER remember where i need to be for what move. Any time i play a melee i have to sit there and go over all my skills to try and remember which i needed to move, but...my memory not so good so that barely helps.
solution: make a quick art update to the icons. a simple solid bar on the side in which the positional lays. so if i need to be facing them. the top. to the flank, right or left and naturally if i need to be behind them, then the bottom of the icon can be marked.

    Thanks for reading!

Having the colors change isn't necessary to tell where you are standing in relation to the boss, this will help with your positions using the target circle

As far as remembering which positional you need to hit for which skill the only way you'll be able to really get better at it is to keep playing the job

There is a bit of an easy remembrance hack you can try, but it really only works if you play on controller. Basically, you have the cross shape, so you have an up, down, left, and right. Try placing the flank moves on the left and right buttons, and the rear moves on the up an down ones. That way when you are hitting the moves you have a visual reminder.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

    Monk:

    Is the easiest Melee.
    Side/Flank- Dragonkick, Twinsnakes, Snap Punch
    Rear-.........Bootshine, True Strike, Demolish.

Set those up based on your hotbar for combo. A good gamepad set up for all melee dps is

    Square > Triangle > Circle
    or
    One > Two > Three

You can do "left side" is rear, and "right side" is flank.

    Or even more laid out:
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    (L2)
    Square > Triangle > Circle
Bootshine > True Strike > Demolish
    (R2)
    Square > Triangle > Circle
Dragonkick > Twinsnakes > Snap Punch

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Dragoon:

    Same set up.
    Chaost Thrust combo on left
    Full thrust combo on right.
    -then
Wheeling thrust as the "Left digital button" since its a rear combo
Fang and Claw as the "Right digital button" since its the "flank combo"
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    (L2)
    Cross
    Heavy Thrust
    (L2)
    Square > Triangle > Circle
Impulse Drive > Disembowel > Chaos Thrust
    (R2)
    Left D-Pad
    Wheeling Thrust
    (R2)
    Square > Triangle > Circle
True Thrust > Vorpal Thrust > Full Thrust
    (R2)
    Right D-Pad
    Fang and Claw

    -----------------------------------------------------------
    Ninja

Rear is Left, flank is right.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
    (L2)
    Is ninjitsu
    (R2)
    Square > Triangle > Circle
Spinning Edge > Gust Slash > Aeolian Edge
    (R2)
    Square > Triangle > Right D-Pad
Spinning Edge > Gust Slash > Armor Crush
    (R2)
    Square > Triangle > Cross
Spinning Edge > Gust Slash > Shadow Fang

    -------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Since L2 is used for Ninjitsu, a great way to remember with this "left to right S>T>C combo you can set up ninjitsu the same way to helpe remember it.
Jin > Chi > Execute , or S>T>C. Is single target
Then Jin > Ten > execute or S>X>C is AoE.
For S>T>X>C, backwards ending with Square is Trick attack action,
and all three opposite is opposite. or
S>T>X>C is "Single Target" Speed buff, and
    S>X>T>C is AoE,

(If you want to keep the "right is side" you can even move Shadow Fang as Circle, I like to Keep Aeolian Edge as circle cause its used more often.)
    Samurai
Rear is left, flank is right.
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    (L2)
    Square > Triangle > Circle
    Hakaze > Jinpu > Gekko
    (L2)
    Square > Cross
    Hakaze > Yukikaze
    (R2)
    Square > Triangle > Circle
    Hakaze > Jinpu > Shifu

    ------------------------------------------------
Whats especially nice about this SAM set up, is that the Sen Gauge is laid out in such a way that going from left to right, your Left combo is the left icon, the "down" or middle 2 hit combo is the middle icon, and the Right combo is the right icon.

    easy peasy.
