Reading suggestion for Gaius Van Balsear!

    Hello! (yes that me again)

I know i know Gaius , you wanted the sake of the world for the good of everyone, i know! me too.

But, let me tell you;, your "vision" about politic and stuff, is a little.... "poor", i listen your argument, but, i cant prevent myself to think "come on Gaius you can, do better"

So here, as a friend, who share same interest as you, i give you a list of book to read to extend your knowledge about philosophy and politic.

"The prince" from Nicolos Machievelli, on vision about ruler who work for his country, but do whats need to be done, whatever the cost, you should like it!

"The republic" of Platon : a way to criticism some system and try other who could work. That should help you to imagine a good systeme.

"The confucius Talk" about the way to think the State as a familly structur, with role and duty set up at each level. Another apporach on how rule a country.

"Speech of voluntary servitude" of Etienne de la Boetie; which should enlight you on the peoples behave and the relationship between the individual and the politic

and last one, as i know you are a fan of Roman Empire

"Thought for myself" from Marc Aurele, he was emperor you know! An invitation to question yourself about your politic and decision, a learn to the auto criticism, i think that kinda necessary for all those who pretend rule the world for its sake.

Of course there is alot of other author and philosophy about it, but it is a start. Maybe after you ll read this, you ll figure out why people Of Uldah Ishgard or Giradia live on their own way.
You know for me there cant be a single model for all people, because culture language and so on bring too much different things, even in their own country people are divided, like in Uldah for example. So dont be too hasty Gaius, think about the way you can improve the live of people in Eorzea.

Glad to help you, see you!

( I know all his speech was just to justify his action, but as you can see, even conquer the world for mad ambition, is just not enough and too easy, world is too much complex to think only one guy and one system will rule it, and yes all book here are vulgarly summ up and are more complicated, but that was just to give the starting idea)

Have you ever heard of a utopia where there is more than one ruler? Or did they always have one ruler and one specific dogma?

Isn't that strange though? How there is no roleplaying section for a role playing game? Off topic severely but just makes me think.

You have listed some really phenomenal books there, Kazhim... I really like your list, especially "the Prince" by Machiavelli. I'm also thinking that the one and only set of books that Gaius needs right now are the saga of the...

I'm also guessing that he already has the following on his shelf as well:
    • The Art of War by Sun Tzu... it's likely he even had this one in his back pocket while taking over Ala Mhigo.
    • The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas ... I reckon this is possibly one of the books he has in his backpack right now while hunting those "guys"... one of my personal favourites
    • The Emperor's Handbook by Emperor Marcus Aurelius
The other ones I'd suggest he add include:
    • The Republic by Plato... I agree, he needs to read this one and also read "The Allegory of the cave" also by Plato-- another of my favourites
    • The Golden Bough by Frazer
    • Code of Hammurabi by King Hammurabi... and since he's going a little ancient, he might as well read the Ramayana as well
    • Aesops fables... I'd wager he needs some light reading now and again to lighten his mood
