For social, I recommend Out of the Ashes, governed by the lovely Jenai. For endgame, I recommend Zantetsuken (French/English) or Tempora Heroica. Please know in advance that this is a Japanese-heavy server, as well as a core French server.

What's the NA community like on Ridill(Selbina)?

My LS is looking to jump servers instead of just merging. Most of us come from FFXI endgame and are looking for a server with a healthy NA community.

I'd say its pretty healthy. Alot of english-speaking FFXI players joined Selbina.

Welcome new people!

For socials, I would recommend pretty much any. =) Try them all out! It never ever hurts to explore. Exploring is what FFXIV is all about

For endgame, I would recommend Triple Spark (shameless advertisement ^^) TS is one of the original endgame goaled LS's that were made back in the beta stages of FFXIV and has survived as it was intended to be, without breaking or merging. The standards are not JUST based on multiple 50 jobs, and careful selection of applicants have allowed TS to keep stable this far.

While I love TS, I'd like to give a shameless advertisement for a couple other notable endgame shells on the server.

Fuse

Seriously. Saw these guys at moogle tonight, it looked like they were having a lot of fun. Lots of jokes, and good times. That's what it is all about. Also there is something special about being a part of building a new(ish) LS. I took a look at their website:

Even though I don't really know anyone there too well, I like the cut of their jib. Plus they actually do Moogle unlike a lot of shells, which is cool.

Also Pandorum:

Pandorum is EST based, they have a lot of good people. I know Amaya and Zenaku from when they were in TS and I have played with Kytheren Kenni a few times. Good people, and good players.


There you have it, my recommendations for new players. The great thing about Selbina->Ridill is that wherever you go there are some really cool people, and lots of XI veterans. Check out these linkshells too, and find one that fits for you and help make it even better. FFXIV without a good shell where you feel at home, a good endgame shell (my content of choice) just wouldn't be playable for me I don't think.


If I didn't mention your shell it is because I harbor a grudge against you and am just talking not stop trash about you behind your back. You should take your garbage linkshell and those mongrel vermin you call "members" and go to Ragnarok or so help me god I don't know what I'll do.

Just kidding, no hard feelings Selbina was awesome and these new folks better be up to snuff because I hope Ridill will be even better.
