Sure, they don't need to show "sympathy" for someone that pulls eventually for them (in this case, without intending to do it, because an Astrologian intending to pull would never use Earthly Star for that). But that doesn't change the fact that THEY are failing THEIR job by not tanking when there is nothing stopping them from doing it.

Tanks don't have any special leeway of "Only I can survive tanking a boss, so I can do no bad and me wasting everyones time is acceptable.". If you think that...maybe a healer should stop healing a tank like that next?! Or DPS should stop killing the mobs on such tanks and just go by to the next group?!

This is a party game. Everyone have both the right and DUTY towards other players. Tanks are expected to at the very least pull without wasting time, healers are expected to heal everyone that is wounded and DPS are expected to attack anything that's alive and pulled. If you fail to do one of these tasks as one of these roles then you shouldn't play the role. If you fail to do so because you decided to play to win the "Who's the biggest jackass of the day" award then you should consider playing single player games instead. Or at least only with friends.

I am not disagreeing with you. The boss sure in hell doesn't care who pulls. If an early pull happens, then a tank has got to get in there and snap agro. But it's just a good general rule of thumb to let the MT commence the countdown and pull. However, anyone can initiate a ready check; including said AST before casting Earthly Star.

The AST might not have intended to pull the boss, but he/she definitely was under the impression that the fight would start when nothing gave him or her any indication that it would. Unless the OP left these details out; or thought that by casting ES, it would prompt the MT to pull. Either way, a fault in judgment is still a fault. But the "You pull it, you tank it" mentality doesn't really help anyone here, including an AST trying to optimize their abilities.
