Merge-Day Celebration!

Well, this is convenient! Alright future Balmung-iers, let's do this!

So, if you missed my earlier threads, I'd like to plan a merge day celebration with various large-scale events going on throughout the day. I think this could help everyone meet each other, and beyond that, would just be plain fun!

Obviously, participation in this would be completely voluntary. I just think it would be a fun way to bring the communities together!

This event will take place Saturday, March 31st, 2012. This is the first Saturday after the event, and allows us to schedule events at given times, without the concern of how long it will take A) for SquareEnix to implement the patch, and B) for people to download and install it. Plus, as it's the weekend, it's probable more people could participate.

Schedule for the Day:

All Day: Crafting parties- Gather together around the Ul'dah central fountain and craft till your heart's content. All day event.

11am EST - Goobue Run

Meet at Ul'dah, right outside the Northern Gate (Gate of Nald), will run to Camp Dragonhead, by way of up north past Bluefog and through Mor Dhona! (If you don't have a goobue/refuse to use it, chocos are fine. Goobue-ing is encouraged though. :P) No prize, just for fun.

1pm EST - Aetheral Gate & Node Hunting Expedition, Gathering Parties

Aetheral gate & node hunting expedition- Team up to go get those tricky glowing points. (Contact Points: Noloe Tazier, Isilud Tengille) Meet in Gridania Adventure's Guild

Mining/botany/fishing parties Fishers- meet at the Fishers Guild in LL. Botanists- Meet at the Botany Guild in Grid. Miners- meet at the Strip Club Miners Guild in Ul'dah.Parties will be responsible for choosing where to go based on the desires of those who attend.

3pm EST -Clear Cutting Run

Clear-Cutting Run- We go kill some Guardians of the Grove. (Molly Millions is the contact point for this.) Meet at Turning Leaf.

5pm EST - Storming the Strongholds

Storming the Strongholds- with massive amounts of people. Meet at Camp IRON LAKE We'll do U'Gahmaro Mines, Zahar'ak, and finish in Natalan. We're going to massively invade, wipe out their leaders, and head onto the next one. This is for fun, not coffer farming, so if anyone gets a key, grats to them, but they fall to who they fall to!

7pm EST - Mor Dhona Danger Race

Danger Race- Mounted race to see who can do two complete counterclockwise laps around Mor Dhona the fastest. Race starts at Camp Brittlebark, and racers must pass through Revenants's Toll (inside the camp, running between the tent and the aetheryte) each lap. First place prize: 1 million gil. Second place: 500k, Third Place: 250k. All entries must set homepoint at Brittlebark- if you die, you have to restart your lap. If another player is willing to revive you, they may do so, but at their own detriment.Teleportation between any of the points will disqualify you. Any abilities you posess (speedsong, fists of wind) that you feel will help you, are allowed. On the beginning of the second lap, you must pass thru the Brittlebark camp, inside the fence, between the tent and the aetheryte. TO FINISH THE RACE, you must run thru Brittlebark the second time, then do an emote of some sort (which one doesn't matter). This will help us ensure the 40-person on screen rule doesn't hinder us in determining the winner if a lot of people show up!

8pm EST - Underwear Run

Underwear Run- everyone strips to their skivies to run on foot from Gridania to The Lance, Coerthas. Meet at the Gridania Adventurer's Guild No prize, just a flock of scantily clad runners.

10pm EST -Rainbow Basilisk Killing

Over the Rainbow- Let's take down some of those pesky lvl 92 Rainbow Basilisks. Because we can. Meet at Camp Revenant's Toll

Midnight EST- World Wide NM Hunts

World Wide NM Hunts-... Dodore, Uraeus, Haughtpox Bloatbelly, Elder Mosshorn, and Great Buffalo. We're taking em out! We'll meet at Camp Bald Knoll, wipe out the Buffalo, choco down to LL and Ferry over to Thanalan. Chocobo over to Elder Mosshorn, and teleport to Grid. We'll run up to Bloatbelly from there, over to Coerthas for Uraeus, and then tele to Brittlebark for Dodore! If anyone gets drops well and good, but they fall to whoever they fall to, cuz the main point is to have fun!

2am EST - Ending Celebration

Ending the Day with a Bang!- Party in the Amphitheater with fireworks, chocolates, prisms, and other shiny things. Meet at Gridania's Amphitheater.

I would love to help organize people as part of this. I will bring as many folks from Abaddon as I can. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

Might I also suggest killing a Rainbow Basilisc or Gauardian of the Grove, or both.

I think our Clear-Cutting run was devoted to killing the Guardians of the Grove, but I'll add the Rainbow Basilisk to the list! And I'd love the help!

EDIT: Molly, I know you're putting together a Guardian of the Grove killing event right now. Since you'll have experience with that, are you interested in being the one to organize such an event on Merge-Day? And/or a Basilisk killing event. Whatever you're willing/able to help with.

Yeah, I can do that. I've done a couple large scale events both on Fabul, and just with Abaddon. I'm worried the population is a bit low right now for the Gaurdian event on Fabul this Sat, but we'll see maybe some people will log back in for it. Either way, I'd love to help with that sort of thing.

My question is, would merge day be the best time for this, or should we wait for a weekend after the merge?

I wouldn't recommend merge day as itll probably take half the people on the server a day to download the patch lol, ok exageration on the number but i know my download will take that long.
