Humans make decisions, sometimes they make mistakes. There are DPS that go for greed and end up eating an AoE (even if they didn't want to), there are DPS that will constantly move even if they have cast times, thus wasting tons of time.

As example, as a White Mage I am prone to eating an AoE or two when spamming Holy if I know I will survive it. If I know the tank WILL hold aggro, I have no reason not to since I can dodge any attack that would kill me and heal before next battle. If the boss doesn't have AoE's often, I won't bother capping the parties health with Medica either if I have Medica II up. If the damage from the AoE was small, I'll just leave it to natural regeneration altogether. Scripted healers will probably not do any of that.
Well then i guess the npcs will be better than real ppl in that case
