Starting to Raid + New Friends

    Hey all,

I've noticed that it is very difficult to start raiding at the savage level in this game. Most elite players have already beaten Deltascape (savage), Sigmascape (savage), etc. and the elite groups/players aren't very friendly to those who started the game and want to start doing some of the end-game stuff.

Currently I am struggling to find anyone who is willing to take time to practice some of these savage level raids or anything lower for that matter.

I want to create this thread to invite new and old players alike to join me in creating a healthy group/community where we help others and find raiding partners and create new friendships.

    Discord group is https://discord.gg/VzzZTr

If you're on Aether Server, add me on Cross-World Linkshell (located in social menu): Bitcoin Blue.
If you're on Mateus (which is a server within Aether), add me as a friend: Bitcoin Blue.

Finding groups for anything old is always going to be a struggle, since people unfortunately tend to care more about loot than whether they enjoy the fights or not.

But since raid tiers aren't necessarily any harder than each other (and in fact, older raids tend to be harder than new ones), starting out at the current raid tier is probably the easiest way to go.

I'd recommend being comfortable with extreme primals before trying to do Savage raiding though, since it's a step up for sure. But don't fret too much over it.

Finding learning groups now is definitely harder, but not impossible. It definitely helps to join or create a group which it sounds like you're doing.

As you're on Mateus, which I believe is Aether, you can also get in with The Nervous Eorzean at https://discord.gg/cKEqRQA - they have a desire to create a no stress Aether raid group within the community to do Deltascape to start with, and work their way up from there. Perhaps this could be a good place for you to partake in for this? I wish you the best of luck in your search regardless though. As far as creating groups go... even current tier is a pain in the butt to find at this point, I'm up to 7/8...

EDIT: Derp you even mention Aether in your post... so yeah, TNE definitely could be a good shout.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Here's the thing. Savage raiding is a serious time investment, we're talking about dozens of hours for a single raid tier, and if you want other players to invest their time helping you (because by now any decent player has already cleared all this content several times so they have no reason to go there again) it must be worth it, meaning that you must be willing to do your best to improve as a player and become a valuable long term asset for the party that will help you. If you expect "elite groups/players", as you call them, to take your hand and help you clear content they already cleared and then say goodbye to them I can tell you already that you're starting with the wrong mindset.

Furthermore, we're now in the middle of the end of expansion lull, so it'd be very hard to find a party for savage raids regardless of your attitude.

Well. I want to get back into raiding as well and I'm currently looking for people on the Aether Datacenter, of Sargatanas specifically to start a group with. The problem is, i'm a European player on the NA datacenter, so my play times are a bit weird. (^_^; )

Thank you for this, this is useful information particularly your suggestions with Extreme Primals.

    Hey bud,

I just want to respond to this so that other people who eventually read your response don't misunderstand my stance. You're right in that people who want to attempt true end-game content should definitely be willing to invest time and effort. And that if someone does not improve then I totally understand why others would not want to play with them. However I would like to assume that a good amount of players who want to start end-game content such as extreme trials and savage raids have played enough of this game and other MMORPG's to where they feel confident enough to start learning with the ability to improve. Often times they just need a chance and to learn from others who have more knowledge and experience just like anything else in life. Watching the videos on Youtube isn't the same as actually practicing in-game.

I just feel like the top community isn't welcoming to newer players trying to enter which is why I'm posting this to join others like me together. Looking at Party Finders, there's so many requirements and restrictions on the descriptions that people like me can't really join, even if my item level is high enough. Also, the objective of this post is not necessarily to demean the elite/top players who don't want/have time/patience to help newer/returning playres but to attract those that do want to help or don't mind helping newer players. We aren't looking for a free pass for people to rush us and baby our way through end-game, just mentors and/or others like us to band together. Lastly, it is obviously very difficult to find a group for this which is why I'm posting this in the first place to recruit others. I hope this clears up any confusion or doubts for future readers of this post, ultimately my objective is to learn, contribute, have fun, and make friends which is what all games should be!
