What if DNC is SHOMHOW a DPS?

Bluefever was the gamefaqs leaker who leaked Gunbreaker, Blue Mage, Alphascape bosses, Viera, etc. He said the there would be 2 new jobs in 5.0: Gunblade and Dancer. He said Dancer was a healer. Given that he's been 95% accurate so far (his only inaccuracy was timing of reveals and said the final boss of Alphascape would be "Adam and Eve", it's safe to say Dancer will be a healer.

I dont recall him saying it was a healer. I've gone through the reddit thread that discussed his leaks and didnt see any mention of that in the "pastebin" data from gamefaqs?

You're right he didn't say it was a healer, I am mistaken. However, SE decided GNB should be a tank because there are 3 tanks and 4 melee DPS. Conversely, if that's the case, it would also make sense that because there are 3 healers and 5 ranged DPS, the second new job would be a healer. Also, we just got 2 DPS last Expansion.

Technically there are more branches/types of jobs than people seem to care about. Yes there are more DPS than tanks and heals for good reason, but they are broken down into smaller types. (New jobs in brackets)

Tanks: PLD, DRK, WAR, [GUN]
Heals: WHM, AST, SCH
Melee DPS: NIN, SAM, MNK, DRG
Physical Ranged DPS: MCH, BRD
Caster DPS: BLM, RDM, SMN, [BLU]

So really if anything... Physical ranged DPS deserve the love. Not heals, tanks, etc lol
But whatever, it really doesnt matter. We can argue what DNC is going to be until the last fanfest XD
I dont mind either way, it can be a tank for all I care... I just want to play it

No. There are three roles in this game - tank, healer and DPS. That is a fact. People claiming DPS need more love because they choose to break DPS down into "ooh but there's ranged physical and ranged magic, blah blah blah," are kidding themselves.

People need to stop with this. This isn't the kind of game where the type of damage you deal is at all relevant. Nobody pretends that WAR and PLD are different roles just because one of them has a shield and a bunch of magic spells, so why are we suddenly trying to spin this to make it seem like DPS jobs are lacking and need even more attention than they already get?

If we are only getting 2 new jobs then I agree that dancer will be healer. Not adding a healer would disappoint quite a few people who haven't had something new for their role in a long time. I would certainly give it a try as my new main since I've been thinking about being a healer for this expansion.

It could be "coincidence" but did the clothing designer at fanfest not show her Dancer outfit designs? She could have shown other designs you know.

She worked on the Designs for Corsair, Blue Mage, Dancer and Puppetmaster in FFXI. They showed a picture of each one as they mentioned them.

For the record btw... I think DNC will be a healer if it's the only other job we get next expansion.

This makes me laugh a little. We have a big debate about gender locking because one race might be weird due to the cute feminity. Yet we're going to have a class that in the same stretch of backwards thinking is feminine. So we're going to have a bunch of guys elegantly dancing to heal.

Dancer is a healer and limited to female only because it would look weeeirrrrrrddddddddddddddddd.
