Hi all. Quick noob question if I may please?

I am brand new and was just wondering how often server maintenance happens? I had a look at the maintenance forum and it seems to be roughly two weekly or so. Would that be about right? Just trying to plan my game time. Thanks in advance for any info.

This is actually wrong. They take the game down whenever they need to, such as for a hotfix patch or to plug a dangerous exploit/serious bug that's been discovered, but it's not 'usually once a week before reset'. There isn't really any 'regular' maintenance scheduled at all, they just schedule maintenance as required.

Having said that, there are certain times and days where server maintenance is more likely to be scheduled for (especially when connected with the launch of a major content patch or expansion pack release), but it's not done every week, and can change without prior notice.

They usually give a decent amount of notification prior to doing any sorta maintenance, unless its Energency maintenance. From what I hear FFXIV doesn't do them often but as is require to keep the game functioning smoothly. Basically, you can have a set play schedule and just adjust as needed, when you see maintenance is coming.
