    FF14 Housing Playguide Discrepancy

    Hello!

So I've noticed that the official Housing Playguide states that

'Plot pricing is the same on each World. The listed price is reduced every six hours (Earth time) and reaches approximately half its original value after thirty days.'

However in my recent house hunting I've seen the devaluation timer being as long as 14+ hours! I was just wondering that the actual time is for devaluation (at least what time each house starts at)? Does it vary from case to case?

This is relevant so I can correctly discern the time when it was demolished which allows me to begin my 4+ hour placard spamfests 8 or so hours into its availability to increase my overall success chance to get a house and decrease the overall time I'm tempted to spend on it since people have said the 'not yet available for purchase' thing goes away in 24ish hours.

    Thanks!

Did you think to take screenshot of the placard? As far as I know, the 6 hours is accurate. Hard for me to double check because all the plots available here that I checked show about 2 hours if they have a timer displayed (most have bottomed out on their price) until the next devaluation.

As you probably know, after a house has been relinquished there is a timer before that plot becomes available for purchase again. This timer is a random time up to 24h.
I suspect the devaluation timer does not start running until the relinquish timer has run down and the plot is available for purchase.

    Hi,

The devaluation timer (the one that continually lowers the price of the plot) has nothing at all to do with the random timer that marks a house as unavailable after it demolished. Unfortunately there's no visual indicator of that timer and although SE has never said anything about the range of it, from what others have worked out it is between 30 minutes and 22 hours.

Yes unfortunately it's that large of a window and can happen at any point during that period, unlike demolition which at least is only on the hour. The only way to know is by trying to purchase again and you'll either get the "Unavailable at this time" (or whatever it says) or it'll let you buy it.

If you already have a properly you can bypass this timer by relocating, but from what you've written unfortunately that sounds like that's not the case.

The random timer isn't linked to the devaluation timer - and the random timer can be up as quickly as 30m in some cases, so just be careful at leaving it for too long. There's no way of knowing what the random timer is.

I need to double check and see if there are timers over 6 hours. I could of sworn but maybe I had placard clicking mania.

Okay so I double checked and I have screenshot showing a devaluation timer to be over 6 hours and therefore there is a discrepancy with the official play guide.

I am aware that the Devaluation timer and the RNG availability timer are not the same.

The significance of knowing the true devaluation timer start point is important for knowing when the property first became available. Knowing this, I can better allocate my clicking time as I can tell myself I won't click on properties that have recently become available because statistically I'll have a higher success rate clicking on signs that have been active for a longer period of time because of the ~22 hour RNG window.

EDIT: I've also seen a few youtube videos showing timers over 14 hours as well as my own experience.

Obviously I'm not doubting you as you have a screenshot, but I would be curious to see it if possible please?

I'm just surprised because every 6 hours isn't new and doing quick searches on the Internet I found references to the price going down 0.42% every 6 hours going as far back as 2.1 when housing was originally released.

So maybe at somepoint they increased it and noone noticed?

For imgur, if you click the image to bring up a bigger preview with a bunch or urls/code at the side, you can just copy the bbcode portion and paste that into your post. Alternatively, you can also copy the Direct Link url and use that with the forum's 'insert image' feature at the top of the comment box. The "Image Link" url (poorly named as it often causes an issue for people) is actually the url to an imgur page that displays the image, not to the image itself.

As to the content of the image though, that's interesting that it's longer than the mentioned 6 hours. I haven't been house hunting for some time, but I wonder how a recent a change that is. I can't seem to find anything on it in any of the patch notes.

I thought the original devaluation was like 18 or 24 hours after a house was demolished/ "went on the market" and then it devalued every 6 hours after that. It's been a while since I was house shopping, and I'm really not willing to try relocating just to find out for sure.
