So? I need seals to get materials for our FC. If I win the RNG fair and square, why do I deserve my goal less than you do?You do realize a majority of those people either vendor it for a handful of gil or just feed it to the GC for seals and are joining the duty primarily for a different reason or to get gear for a class they aren't currently playing as well?
You claim I'm downplaying their effort? Where do I say anything of the sort? Seriously your response makes me wonder if you're one of the people I referred to that immediately hit need on anything that presents the button to you unless a weekly lockout actually forces you to make a decision on what you actually want.
They went through this with "greed only" and it failed them, hard. They won't go back.

I was making a statement. When I'm in group content, unless anyone says anything, I can't assume they need the gear more than I do. Removing the ability to roll just on the premise alone (meaning excluding if the other player really needs that piece of gear) that the system detects the gear I wear is superior to the loot that is dropped is not a fair system because I'm spending just as much time as the next person clearing the content. And since the system isn't psychic to guess players wants and needs, that would mean the system would priotize those same people even if they don't care about what's being dropped. I haven't even scratched the surface with glamour runs players have. I guess at least in PF, you could put it as setting...which incidentally called Lootmaster. But a DF run where no one knows anyone's need unless spoken? No, just no.You do realize a majority of those people either vendor it for a handful of gil or just feed it to the GC for seals and are joining the duty primarily for a different reason or to get gear for a class they aren't currently playing as well?

That's what I mean by downplayed effort and that's why I also suggested that if such a system were in place, at the very least an alternative reward should be there for the player who has the better gear. Also, another suggestion would be guaranteed loot like we have for the SB leveling dgns. That way people still get what they want.
EDIT: Yes, I am one of those people who roll on anything. If no one's speaking up, I just assume it's fair game.

Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
People will simply equip lower ilvl gear to be able to roll need, making runs harder.Random nitpick here...
Make it so people cant lot need on things their class can equip but are below or inferior to the current gear they are using. Its rather annoying when doing things to either gear another job because that job doesn't meet entry requirements and people just auto click need on anything that gives them the option.
Plus even if you are well geared you might want a lower ilvl item for glamour, or to equip another job who need different stats (like wanting a spellspeed mage gear for blm while being on your rdm).

Or you can ask if you can have said piece. Most people are happy to oblige.Random nitpick here...

Can we at least get an Option that Auto Pass on unique Items you already have in inventory.
Happens so damned often
