Thinking of switching to gunblade when it comes out. Need advice

Good afternoon everyone,
I've been wanting a gunblade class for a while because Squall is one of my favorite characters from FF. I've only tanked on and off rarely while I've been playing. I was wondering if there's any guides or just helpful tips so I dont totally screw up tanking once the expansion hits. Thank you.

Not to be ‘that guy’, but shouldn’t you wait for official confirmation that a ‘gun-blade’ job will even exist in the expansion? There still hasn’t been any information on new expansion jobs, much less which roles they’ll take on. If it does come out it may well be a DPS or a healer for all we know right now. Or it could be a Gladiator/Paladin Weapon they simply wanted to showcase to capitalise on the requests for a gunblade type job.

Learning about the game is always great and I think it’s great that you’re looking for tips on how to do your best. But I know all too well how disappointing it can be to convince yourself a certain job will be in the game in a certain form, only for the result to be completely different.

I do truly hope that the job is added in a way you’d like, but be sure not to put all your eggs in one basket about things until we have official information.

My advice:

1) Wait until we actually know if Gunblade is going to be a class and what role it's going to be.

2) Wait until you've played the class to see if you're actually going to like how it plays so you're not just playing because it looks cool.

3) Still look up guides about tanking, since, it will help not only if you ever decide to play a tank (Whether it be Gunblade or not) but also can give you some more insight into how you might better assist tanks even while you're playing DPS/Healer *Cough*When you have aggro, don't RUN AWAY FROM THE TANK*Cough*

Fortunately, they more or less have to make a new tank and a new healer - it's not about getting new people to tank or heal. It's about retaining people already doing it - and most of us are tired of playing the same three classes after four years.

I hope you are right, because the weapon concept is awesome.

I imagine a class which is ranged and shoots with gun, but when in melee uses actual blade and has some bonuses into it.
Maybe there would be two stances, guns stance and melee stance instead of tank-off, i hope they will not put a tank stance into it if they are going to make a tank out of it.
