    FFXIV Wowhead equivalent?

Aside from the sometimes annoying ads, Wowhead's site had excellent info on every item in the game.
The best thing was a comments section for each item, where uers would post more data about the items, such as what they're used for, how to find, etc.

All I can find for FFXIV are sites that just repeat the tooltip, which is of no help when it's cryptic.

the lodestone has the Eorzea Database - some entries have comments on them for items. there's also other wiki's out on the net that have information.

Are you looking for something like https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Main_Page or https://www.garlandtools.org ?

Gamer Escape's wiki has information about all of the items, dungeons, NPCs, etc. For items used for crafting or crafted themselves, it links to associated pages.

Garlond DB also has a lot of information about items as well! Like if you wanted to make a crafting list, or where to find the item. Garlond Bell is also a great resource for setting up gathering timers.

You'll want to search for guides of what you're looking for if the tooltips are not enough. Usually the Gamer Escape wiki has enough connections to get you to what you need (but is more tooltip like format), like what's after X quest and such but if not a guide will do better (the comment section in gamer escape is rather quiet, as is all the other websites to be fair ).

I tend to visit console games wiki when I want a written guide on boss stuff as gamer escape links to videos (which I sometimes don't want, depends on if I'm feeling text or not lol).
