So with only pure heals, how will you have the time to use cards?
Will everything be instacast?

I pray they dont touch the shields, at least not too much. They finally got Noct in a good spot to where it "works" but doesn't outclass Scholar. Of course if Scholar gets Meltdown I'll be a happy lala.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

Agreed. And if Scholar gets Meltdown AND White Mage gets Ultima, I'll be a happy lala.

I don't think WHM can get Ultima, for story reasons; although we can summon a mini-Bahamut now, when we couldn't before, soo... But if WHMs get Ultima it would be a nice nod to FFII. And I guess AST would need a signature ability, I wanna say Comet, though Malefic II sorta resembles one already.

1. You'd have plenty of time between heals for cards. There's no content in the game that would force you to be healing constantly with no time for cards.
2. Did you miss the part where I mentioned I'd like to see the Abridged trait from PVP added?

i personally really like where ast is at currently. i would like more card play if i'm to be honest with myself though. not sure what it'd be whether adding more cards or more ways to interact with them or whatever. i came for the cards, stayed for the heals.
Well if you wanted to stop me and countless others playing AST, this would do it.
It's precisely this that stops me playing WHM.

My suggestions have literally nothing to do with making them like WHM. In fact, it's to make AST a lot less like WHM (and SCH) by removing the copy and paste regens and shields and give them a focus on quick succession direct heals (which also satisfies the whole Lightspeed/quick element people like about AST). Not only that, but my suggestion also included a sect change that allowed the AST to focus more on card play. But, then again I don't care what your wants are. This thread is asking what people want and I provided my own personal wishes (not that any of them will ever happen).

If you take away shields you'll break the viability of WHM/AST groups on a lot of Savage content (which is already a rare combo, but is totally viable) and you'll make ultimate basically impossible since the boss will just kill everyone without heavy party mitigation management, which pugs will be really hard pressed to handle. Having cards handle debuffs is not gonna help because it's RNG.
Direct heals also tend to be GCDs , and the over reliance on GCDs is a big part of the reason why WHM is ignored in meta. It would be extremely interesting though to replace benefic/helios with weaker insta-cast oGCDs that you could weave using some kind of resource (or we run into even worse mana problems than we already have) , so you'd really be speedy in responding to damage. They could get the trait from ED that increases the potency the lower the target's HP is so there is incentive to AST always being the first to respond.
Resource generation could be tied to your card play so you don't just hold stuff forever, like the faster you deal with the card the more you build kinda thing, and using Minor Arcana on it could punish you by generating less of this resource that you need to cast insta-heals.
