You might be right but people complained about all the relics.
I remember the fate drops on the first relic.

Yup, relic was alway a hot topic.

That step was the Atma, easely one of the most hated and still Eureka is all about doign fate. I'm 100% sur I endure far more fate in Eureka than Atma ever asked me to do. In fact, I finished the atma step pretty fast probably day one and still hated how boring it was to just chain fate.

While some parts of Eureka was fun, most of it was boring and AFK until a NM popped.

The problem I have with it was how it completely ruined the relic grind's versatility of the past and made a one way to obtain the strongest weapon of the expansion instead of the past where it could cater to both casual and hardcore players.

Isn't the Eureka relic aimed at casuals? You can just afk and put 0 effort into the game and still get it. Even if you put an hour a week into it, you can still finish the relic in no time.

Actually, if I recall correctly, devs mentioned how Eureka was supposed to be niche content due to its difficulty and required investment.

With the fact that everything becomes trivialized by FATE Trains being an unforeseen outcome.

TBH: Players always find a way to play the content like they want. Im pretty sure Fate-Trains where never in Squares mind when they started designing the content but players found a way to make it "easier". Same goes for Byakko. Devs said they never intended for the Last Tiger to be ignored but people found out that they can just skip it by using tank LB.
