I had tried the quest 3 times and I never died, just Duty Failed. My gear is the level 60 poetic totem gear so it's fine. In the last 2 tries, I managed to give her ether but the duty still failed shortly after.

Based on this info, I'm guessing Alisae was killed and that's what ended the duty. Make sure to target enemies who are attacking her first and foremost.

Thanks Brynne for the link, I think I understand now how it works. I plan on trying it next using my Dragon job but I'm not in the mood now but will later
