Cannot Download Game - Stuck on First File

As the title states, I can't get past 1100 mb in the launcher. I've tried so many different methods found on reddit ect to try and fix this and none have worked. It's actually ridiculous that it's a common problem. I bought the full version of the game last night after being on the free trial for a little over a week. The free trial downloaded just fine before but when I tried to download the full game both last night and today once I registered the key it just.. won't work?

It won't download past the file - H2017.06.06.0000.0001a

Is there any solution I may have missed? I've tried changing to different DNS servers (Google and SafeDNS), I've restarted both my computer and router, I've changed the boot config as was recommended, I've completely deleted the game and tried again, I've done so much crap and nothing works.

Again, why is this so common? This is actually appalling that such a popular MMO's launcher has so many issues. I'm furious.

If it was PS4 I would be able to advise because I had a major problem getting mine set up. It literally took over 24 hours and my system was having issues committing to that download without me regularly waking the thing up, had to basically adjust settings so the thing was constantly active. Wish I could help with computer, hope someone else can lend a hand.

I'd suggest turning off Windows Defender real time protection for the install, it doesn't like software installations.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

LostVellichor, are you connected to the internet via WIFI or an Ethernet cable. Also please make sure the exceptions through the fire wall have been made. Please also do the following:

-Update Internet Explorer:
Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
- Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
- Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
