My unpopular opinion about Gaius Baelsar

I always wanted to join his crew and destroy over eorzea (and get to the throat of that minifilia), because i was heaten up due to the amount of fetch quests back in 1.0 MSQ. I was basically close to give up on this game all together, and when the guy ask me to join him in the duty, i was all for it but unfortunately this game is scripted and there is no choice to be made.

Now i think about it, he is the coolest character created in this game so far, apart from guys from doma, he turned out to be the reasonable one with a plan.
I wish we will actually join him in 5.0 destroying ascians and get empire the better ruler.

Plus, with that (JP) voice, he could conquer me any time. If I had been given the choice, I'd have turned coat and joined him at the first opportunity and never looked back. It doesn't matter that his entire belief system was built on a lie, he sold it to me and had me asking for seconds.

The next FF MMO needs a 2-faction system and a Gaius (who talks a lot, I don't care what about - Ruling over savages? Absolutely! Collecting fish? Amazing! - Just keep talking please <3)

Gaius literally did nothing wrong. Don't believe Eorzean propaganda.

That's hardly unpopular. Gaius is a very popular character, and that's part of the reason he's back. His motivations for the "evil" acts he committed are justifiable and pure. He genuinely wanted to help the people of Eorzea, and everything he did was in pursuit of that goal. His methods went far beyond what the people of Eorzea deemed acceptable though, which is why we fought him. The reason why he can be an uneasy ally now, despite actions that many of the NPCs consider horrid, is because he has a genuinely good heart, which is far more than can be said for the majority of the Garlean antagonists.

Gaius never wanted to destroy Eorzea. Quite the opposite, in fact (original Black Rose anyone?). Just because he was our enemy and did what any enemy does in a war, doesn't mean that he was evil or wanted to destroy anything. That's why we can be allies at this point, as has been said up there already.
