    Trailer Theory

    Possible spoiler warning!

    ---------------

    ---------------

So there is a theory floating around (not new) about what will transpire in 5.0. But I'd like to put another theory (again not new) into context with the trailer. Please bear with me.

The trailer opens with what we might assume is the Warrior of Light.

But imagine that it is actually the Warrior of Darkness, wandering around through a barren First world. (His home world) A world that appears to be bathed in light; streaming from the clouds.

Suddenly he is flooded with the memories of the Warrior of Light's exploits/journey. Flashes of the WoL's memories stream through his mind, as he holds his head. And as his hand lowers, he is now a vessel for the Warrior of Light. He is in essence now the player's character on the First world.

He's instantly greeted by a creature that tells him there is "no fight left to fight." Which would be a taunt to the WoL that he has made a mistake in coming to the First world. He is called a "fool" and told there is "no life left to live." The WoL basically arrived right at "the end... his end."

However, the WoL summons their strength. They fight back. Determined to become the First world's champion. The Warrior of Darkness.

Meanwhile, the WoL's friends are left to deal with other problems. Perhaps in the WoL's absence, which could be what Y'shtola is meaning when she says, "Until our friend returns, I will hold the line."

Thancred is protecting a most likely "reborn" Minfilia. Perhaps Minfilia is on the First world as well, in a new vessel, attempting to help reclaim the world as promised. Or perhaps she has come back to our world to help out. Either way, she is obviously not just a simple past version of Minfilia.

A lot of people are thinking alternate histories, or alternate futures, and the whole light vs dark theory. So I just wanted to toss this one out there in light of the extended trailer. It's just a theory though. Let me know what you all think.

Edit: Looking at the trailer again, I noticed after the SAM and Zenos clash, the WoL has an odd look on his face. Almost as if he lost the fight. Then it quickly goes back to the other scene in the strange new area. Maybe we lose on purpose (by design) to allow ourselves to be transported to the WoD's world.

Also, the trailer does end with "become the Warrior of Darkness." Maybe that is quite literal?

Your theory of Vessel seems pretty odd to me. I mean, If it's the Ascien that do it for getting us out of the way, why didn't they do that from the beginning ?

In my opinion, the main story will take somewhat a Space-time way, by going through a new world, or going back in the time.

But, with the new map that have been shown we can't be sure. Rak'tika Great wood seems to have a Viera village in it, So Ivalice/Dalmasca will be our next destination ?

To stay in the theme of Map, we got 2 new destination on each Expansion
    HW was Dravania and Abalathia
SB was Othard and Gyr Abania

So Shadowbringer will give us Ivalice/Dalmasca and ???

Don't forget that travelling in the time can destroy the entire universe. Imagine if you kill, for exemple, Hien before the war of Doma. People of Doma won't oppose Garlemald and immediatly attack you even if you try to make things for them. History became impossible to complete, thus creating a Paradox where you never reached the point of history where you need to go back through time.

So going through a new world seems to be a good option. But beside the reincarnation, I still can't explain why Minfillia is here.

So another theory appear, We are going in a world where the time is not the same as us, and where Darkness almost never appear. And look in the Eyes of Minfilia, for me it's not Minfilia, but Hydaelyn it self ! Minfilia don't have eyes like that in normal, Only the version posseded by Hydaelyn possess it.

Too many question are still there, and without the little puzzle piece missing we can't make everything look smooth. Maybe the 4.55 will open a new possibilities.

Maybe not so much a vessel, but somehow transported into another body. Maybe even swapped. The Ascians could possibly do it, yes, but it defeats their end goal with the Source world. There might be another entity that is capable of doing it to the WoL. Perhaps the voice we're hearing before the Scions pass out. It may already be at work transporting the Scions where they need to be; to set the stage.

You mentioned new zones. While Rak'tika does seem to be part of Dalmasca, it could very well be another place. They hinted that a beast tribe lived up in the canopy, but didn't specify which beast tribe. So it could go either way. The other new zone (name eludes me), the Fairy's home, looks very peculiar with streams of light shining through the clouds. The same streams of light in the trailer when light-based monsters are shown. Perhaps this is the First world, bathed in light, as it would be.

The story could very well be split between both worlds. Perhaps that's what they were experimenting with when they let us play as Alphinaud.

The fact Minfilia is confirmed to be returning makes me feel like we're going to be going to where she is AKA the first shard along with Thancred while the other Scions try to hold down the fort back at the Source.

I think if the walls between the Source and the first have weakened enough that its excess light is spilling over, it may not actually be necessary to sacrifice one's physical form to travel there.
