After 4 years of playing World of Darkness, I thought I knew all the mechs. Then 1 twist on a mech caused me to act instinctively using my available skills and it turned out to make the situation worse. See for yourself what caught me off guard after 4 years.

Apparently I never noticed it flash on my screen (the tell, not the attack) and I guess I was lucky all those hundreds of times I was doing it cuz I was always away from everyone else. Today was the first time I died to it because we were all close together.

For those that don't know. When the weather is thunder do not kill the bubbles. If the bubbles are up, the lightning strikes the bubbles and not the players.

I only started playing slightly over a year ago so I'm used to most AAR content being a cakewalk, with gear and overleveledness allowing people to mitigate or even entirely skip some mechanics.

So when I signed up for an all-BLU run of World of Darkness, imagine my shock when I saw the shadow beast-thingies at the last boss. Apparently even the most incompetent pug group has enough dps to skip it, but 24 BLUs doing their best still can't match that level of anti-boss dps.

Imagine my even GREATER shock when we somehow failed to hit one of those adds despite Dragon's voice covering every square pixel of the map. You have not been to a real rave until you've done a BLU alliance raid.

The only thing that comes to mind is learning that the markers for the levitation AoEs in Syrcus Tower against Xande happen to be a stack mechanic, apparently, since I got one-shot when no one had stacked with me. Confused the hell out of me.

One thing I've somewhat recently learned is that a lot of older mechanics haven't been changed with the SB role abilities in mind, so a lot of "knockback" effects are entirely skippable with Arm's Length/Surecast.

Lol I've seen those worm thingies a few times in DF groups the past year.
