This!
I really want a hammer class!
Even have that in my search info...
I'd prefer a hammer wielding job to be maiming DPS, we could do with more heavy DPS jobs, and now that we've got a new tank and healer, the tank and healer balance is set for another couple expansions.
That and it would also require devs to un-shoot themselves in both feet since the gear adjustments they made to tanks in 4.0 have forced all tanks to have to wear Fending gear.

Sorceress' Knight just seemed like it meant champion or in Seifer's case lap dog in that game. Seifer didn't just try to protect the Sorceress he did w/e she told him to do. Find Lunatic Pandora, Torture / Question Squall. Merge his Ex GF into a Giant Man Boobed woman. Squall was the only one that wanted to "protect" his sorceress and that stemmed more from his love for Rinoa. Before that he couldn't care less about most people... which is why he almost ended up alone and dead trying to get back to his timeline at the end of the game.
I am happy. Then again I planed on maining it no matter what role it was set to fill.
Time for the edgy cowcat!
Gunblade user is the closest thing that FFVIII had to a tank anyway. It makes sense to me.
I blame the people in the player base who said "Hammer is one of the most boring weapons to add for Tank job"
Any weapon can be made to look cool and flashy with the right imagination but only when you can use it then can it be determined if it boring or not.

To be fair, due to how the game's mechanics worked you could make everyone a tank with the right junctioning of spells. At the start of the game Squall takes just as much damage as the rest of the group.
