It was really weird that male Viera were not shown at all at this Fan Festival.

So this is our "We want the Male Viera, Show us BunBros!"

So that means male Viera... with heels!

I'm assuming this image is still legitimate and accurate?

I think they're just messing with us. It's safe to assume that everything we see at Fanfests is probably completed just a few days before the conference, considering how tight a schedule they run. I think it's most likely that the male viera model was just not ready and polished enough to be shown in a promotional video, and we'll get a look at them at the next JP Fanfest.

Unless someone asks the devs about male viera at a Q&A or something, it's best to just sit and wait until then.

It's possible they're still under construction, along with the dark-skinned Rava Viera clan. So far in today's trailer all I saw were light-skinned Veena females. This could be possible since, as far as the lore states, male Viera are so rare that they probably haven't made any important storyline male Viera npcs. Just because it exists in character creator, doesn't mean that it'll be integrated completely into the game at first. From what I can remember, there were no male Raen Au Ra in Heavensward's storyline at all, until they appeared later in Stormblood. The Au Ra's lore stated that they came from the far east, making them just as rare as Viera in Eorzea. This could be the case, which gives them more time to work on other gameplay features and make sure systems like New Game + are functional first.

But seriously though, they did initially make Mi'Qote a gender-locked female-only race for quite some time. Wasn't until the community repeatedly asked. It's not outside the realm of possibility that they're waiting for people to publicly request for it to decide to do it, but it is also plausible what you say..

Ah, that's news to me. Yeah, I think they're definitely just being coy and sneaky about it for now. I'm sure we'll get a more thorough look at the viera's male models and separate clans in March then.

He has to know how poorly player character limitations go over in this fandom. He also knows how long ago he first teased Viera as a possibility and how many people wanted to be males. That door was never closed, despite his skepticism. He made a bigger deal about trying to get the feet right. And then why wouldn't they have closed the door gently and tightly today? I can't shake this itch that he's watching all these salty tears with schadenfreude knowing he's going to get a massive crowd pop when he shows up in Tokyo like, "Nah, I'm messing with you, roll the tape!" lol.

Someone pointed out that all the Viera shown in the video have the same face. So it's entirely possible SE isn't even done modeling the female Vieras either. Instead they just slapped together whatever they had into a build for fan-fest.

All the Lore so far (this is still the Lore forum) seems to indicate that nobody anywhere has ever encountered, or will ever encounter, a male Viera. Ever. Almost as if, instead of the "extremely uncommon" argument they tried with the male Miqo'te back in the day, or simply being absent for no good reason like female Higlanders and Roegadyn, they decided to shut us up by simply closing the door even tighter. I hate this kind of argument, but if we take what the Dramaturge says about them, and assume that he'd even say the same thing to a male or female Viera, it's safe to assume, for the moment, that playable male Viera are an impossibility.

Assuming they do create a new single-sex race for the males, all I'm hoping is that they don't deviate too far aesthetically. Something with a similar lithe build and its own touch of beastiness would be nice. Lots of people suspect a Ronso derivative, but I think there's not enough room on Hydaelyn for two cat races. I might actually use one of the free gift fantasia I've had since 2.0 if we got sexy wolf boys instead, but that probably won't happen with Lupin already roaming about as an NPC race.

there is something to point out on this
but the viera they showed either using the exact same face all 4 times ,
so either these are the only models of viera they had ready and probably show more at tokyo fanfest (so male and females)
or viera are just super limited in customization.
