It is not the matter of knowing how to but the matter of if they can.
Gears, stats, and reaction time matters in all of this to keep the tank alive for that task but if something is under then they may not meet the necessary requirements to handle the large mobs.
This Backfires when the tank is running with a healer friend and THEY laugh as the DPS goes boom then gets a vtk. :POh I am going to have fun with this, a friend / co dps friend of mine likes to pull for tanks and laughs when they rage if they do small pulls. Interesting to see if they will rage if it happens to them. Sadly I probably am going to end up healing for them. Still hope to get some laughs.
People will be able to level fully solo with trusts in shadowbringers anyway. Is it just me or does this seem like a really bad idea?
The thought of giving a player who has never ever tanked a free lvl 60 tank is a really grim.
Its going to be hell for new players who get stuck with them while trying to progress in duty finder and we'll likely see a lot of ping pong agro between dps on jobs they already know how to play and the scrub Gunbreaker hitting random buttons.
It's going to be like what happenee with Dark but 100 times worse.
They should have Gunbreaker starting level at level 30.People need to learn how to tank.Dont throw them in the deep end.
I... don't actually like the idea of the trust system... You can already solo in the overworld. Which I'm PERFECTLY okay with. Being able to solo my side quests and stuff is something I LOVE about this game. But... I don't really think you should be able to solo brand new dungeons. Squadrons are fine cause... the dungeons there are old dungeons and it's kind of side content... Being able to use Trusts to solo 5.0 Dungeons the day they come out just seems... wrong to me...
Dont worry people will fail horibly with trust system in brand new dungeons as its not like the npc's will explain mechanics on bosses to them.So until there are guides up it will likely make more sense to run the dungeons in df with other players who know or can help discover them.I... don't actually like the idea of the trust system... Not to mention as we've seen with GC Company the AI can glitch a lot in dungeons so its nor reliable.
I can count on 14 hands, the number of times I've dealt with awful level 70, fully geared out (UWU tanks) that did not know their own provoke from their tank stance, and literally kicked them out of the party after 15min passed, since all of us in the party were tanks ourselves as our main classes (but playing on DPS/heals) at the time. I've met new players at level 35-40 who knew tanks better than some capped at 70. Doesn't matter if you're level 1 or 70, 80 or 100, stupidity is applicable at any and all level,(regardless of job position) whether DPS, Tank, or heals. Not starting a class or job at Level 1 is a big mistake anyway. Even if that's a new job, even if you need to level from 1 to 80, hey, that's how you learn. The way SE implements it is bad. You start at 60 with a trillion of skill and no idea of how to play, that's just stupid...
The UPSIDE is that the player has MORE access to their tool kit at 60 (pre 70) than 50.

Actually talking about gear reminded me of one other thing that really annoyed me leveling non tank jobs when SB came out. Tanks with extremely outdated gear in duties that the healer just can't keep alive because they regularly take more damage than the healer can actually heal. In SB I saw it most often in Bardam's. They were usually played by people that had a DPS main and didn't like the duty queue time to get through their MSQ. So not only did they not know what over half their skills did they were basically wearing tissue paper for armor.I can count on 14 hands, the number of times I've dealt with awful level 70, fully geared out (UWU tanks) that did not know their own provoke from their tank stance, and literally kicked them out of the party after 15min passed, since all of us in the party were tanks ourselves as our main classes (but playing on DPS/heals) at the time. I really feel this. I feel this in my bones. I've seen SO MANY tanks who also have outdated gear. The duty should NOT allow them into the instance unless they meet the minimum requirements for their level. If they're in a 62 dungeon, the gear has to be well over 270 or higher. Why they make the requirement so low is beyond me. That just screams insta-kick in 15min.Actually talking about gear reminded me of one other thing that really annoyed me leveling non tank jobs when SB came out. Gunbreaker and any other new jobs in Shadowbringers must start at level 60, anything lower would make it a really tedious grind for the ones, included myself, that have all jobs at max levels!...
That gives new tanks 10 levels to learn the job and 10 more levels to gain experience before level 80!...
65 actually. the 63 dungeon gives out ilvl 270 gear which if you got that full set OR the Shire set should do you well for Bardam. If you are leveling via dungeons then you get as much Bardam gear as you can before 67.I really feel this. I feel this in my bones. I've seen SO MANY tanks who also have outdated gear.
