Because they aren't even done with fanfast paris? let alone fanfest Tokyo which they kiiiinda need new info at to get people hyped? Hello?Explain where the overreaction was... specifically. I want to see quotes. Thus far, people are mentioning their disappointments if this goes live. Given that there was no art displayed, nor models show, we have no information either way. Speculations are to be expected. Most of the posts here are even giving the benefit of the doubt: "I hope they don't do this...", "If they do this...", etc. From the looks of it, you're the only one who looks dumb thus far.
They learned from 2.0 and didn't want to recreate new mistakes like catboys and femroes.
They didn't mention the lack of males at all, which makes me think at Tokyo they're going to be all, "Now some of you may have noticed that there were no male Viera in that trailer! Well that's because [Male Only Race]!"
It's possible that they just didn't have male Viera assets ready yet, but I feel like they would have said so, if that were the case.
I feel like they might just be teasing us *very* hard. They pulled the Viangaa joke, and they didn't actually tell us it's a single-gender race. Either they know the fans would riot (in which case why on earth are they doing it) or they're deliberately holding off. I hope.
Given the amount of female Miqo'te, I'm sure the numbers for female Viera would still far outweigh the number of male Viera, thus maintaining the immersion. This is going to be an unpopular opinion, however, I can see why they would gender lock the Viera race. This would be because very few male Viera actually exist and they live in seclusion the majority of their lives. It would break immersion and their own lore to have a ton of Male Viera running around.
Exactly, they would hype people up for it by hinting that there's more to come, which they can never resist doing.
Instead they seemed to rush over it without a second glance.
Honestly really hoping they give us male viera. I've been waiting relatively patiently since the concept art back when Heavensward was announced. It's been something I've been eager to use and i've been really supporting of SE's decisions as of late, considering they had said they wouldn't do gender locked races way back in ARR because of the backlash they'd gotten about the Mithra and Galka, so what did they do for ARR? Miqo'te and Rogyden, both similar in stature but giving male and female versions to 'classic' races.
Honestly. I'm okay with the female viera, they look good. And I can see the lingerie being the equivalent of the linen underclothes like how it's unique across each race. despite being the same item. But as for males? I'm really, really hoping they don't hold onto the information until Tokyo. I'd rather they break my heart now than to have to wait weeks to finally hear a no.
It's pretty weak reasoning considering we have male Miqo'te and they are supposed to be rare. This is going to be an unpopular opinion, however, I can see why they would gender lock the Viera race. This would be because very few male Viera actually exist and they live in seclusion the majority of their lives. It would break immersion and their own lore to have a ton of Male Viera running around.
