Gender locked race?

Gender locking a race is outdated practice. The fact that there's rumors and that SE is considering it shows how out of touch the team is.
Or must I point towards the Bunny suit fiasco?
I know I will not keep my mouth shut about wanting them, been waiting since Tactics Advance.

Welp, if this is true and what was found is correct and the code that puts in the specific pronouns is to be trusted and isn't full of redundancies.

Yeah, Bluefever never mentioned gender locking (although a discord "leaker" says they were).
The genderlocking comes down to what is more likely:

1: SE Genderlocks Viera and Hrothgar, one gender for each
or
2: SE makes two full blown races with all the development time and resources that takes.

The optimist in me hopes for option 2, but the realist in me says it's option 1 when looking at other surrounding evidence (again, his old comment, and peculiarity regarding talking about male viera + in game lore). I would love to be wrong though.

Yeah, as much as I'd hate for it to be the case, option 1 seems to be more likely considering what Yoshi's said about how hard developing races is and whatnot. However, it could be that since we didn't get a new race for Stormblood, maybe they've been working on them since then in an effort to release 2 fullblown races for ShB. But I feel like that's a reach, sadly.

Hey guys, what about the possibility that they add female Viera and male Hrothgar first, with plans to add their opposite sex counterparts later depending on player requests? Say, if they get a high demand right away, they'll move development to release them within 5.x, else, in 6.0 instead. Edited: this would stay true that these will be their last races to add in the game. Adding the opposite sex doesn't count as adding a new race.

I agree! But devs have said working on a race is a lot of work, and considering they often reuse animations, gear and monster reskins etc. I'm just saying that adding two full races seems like a lot of work.

One other possibility is that they already had work done for Viera in the beginning of SB or late HW, giving them time to implement another new race.

I'd rather they just add them immediately instead of trying to sell a half finished product. Limited jobs are bad enough, so let's not graduate to limited races.
