Is such a huge gamble and 'weird'. Yet bara male miqo'te somehow is the better and safer option.
Oh and these characters are from a mobile game called Dragalia Lost.

God forbid SE want to add something that isn't "human with animal ears/horns taped on." Most MMO's have at least one playable beast/monstrous type race, I could easily see Yoshida wanting to incorporate something like that into the game if he wants to.

There is certainly a median they can find between full on playable beastman but not pretty human with animal ears. Something like Bless' Pantera come to mind that are certainly different enough from miqote but still human enough to not be extra work getting armor to fit.

Oh yeah, that would be fine if they did something like that. Btw, that beastman's face is acceptable. Do you know what's kind of boring though and not imaginative? Going for a lion race when you already technically have a race that is lion-like.

We've seen so many humanoid type bosses in this game. And the one they decide to go for out of everything is a Lion? Are they going the Elderscrolls route now, in fact, no? Because Elderscrolls didn't even have another feline-like race before they implemented Khajiit.

Further again, they may think that the vast majority would only play as female Viera anyway, so a male Viera would be a bit of a waste of resources, and would instead make a different male race that they might think would get more use and appreciate.

Do you know what's kind of boring though and not imaginative? Going for a lion race when you already technically have a race that is lion-like.

As opposed to a race of human looking people with animal ears that live in a forest matriarchy? People go on about how similar viera lore is to miqote, and they physically look not much different than what we already have, but then say another cat themed race that could actually look drastically different is too similar?

Because historically female beast like characters are criminally underplayed in MMOs. We don't even have one in ffxiv but anyone can see the severe lack of female roegadyn and highlander characters.

Highlanders are arguably better looking than Roe and they're still unpopular.

The most popular males in the west are hyu (midlander) > miqo > au ra (xaela)
The most popular males in the east are lala > miqo > hyur (midlander)

That still doesn't stop a large amount of gay bara enthusiasts from playing as roegadyn. Beauty and what makes people attractive varies from person to person, and from the looks of it roegadyn fulfill a lot of the criteria that group is looking for. There's lots of roegadyn fanart all over the internet, and their Hellsguard variant has an animal nose that when coupled with different ears can pretty much look like any animal. This group likely doesn't want to see more "twink" males, but bears/stocky guys tend to throw anyone who is smaller than them into that category, so there's no set limit for what makes a twink. Ideally we need a race with a medium/strong build that doesn't go into either extreme.
