Gender locked race?

Of course there is a lot of things to be excited for! And Man a lot of the new areas, music and dungeons look amazing! And this announcement doesn't override that but, for alot of people "glamour is true endgame" and its more then just a tantrum over a different colored toy. But this is a feature among many that a large group of people were looking forward to! And they are allowed to be disappointed it not happening.

For many (but not all) their character IS a representation of themselves, their creativity, their story telling, and/or the way they want to be perceived in game. Its why they are called avatars. People express themselves through their character and their design as one may choose to express themselves in the way they dress or the way they do their hair. This is just an extension of that! And there are whole industries built around clothes, hair etc.

We judge books by their covers all the time and so people want to look their best as they see it, and to present to others playing the game, because you can see other players and what they choose to wear, how they do their hair and what race they are, and which gender they choose. And they want you to see them as they want to be seen a freedom much more attainable in game then in real life.

and obviously this is just one part of the community, but not a small part. Having Male and Female Viera and Male and Female Hrothgar as choices hurts no one, if you don't want to be one of those, don't, that simple and if you do, then be one of them! Them giving us the choice lets everyone win!

Yes it is amazing we got two new races! That's awesome! I'm happy people have more options with big buff men and pretty bunny ladies. But They released them only for one gender. What about the people who want to be Tuff Buff lion ladies and the ones who wanted be Viera Babe dudes?

If it wasn't for the leak or for the french translation thing Hrothgar would have come out of no where. Viera was on its way to being the only new race and the way they played coy with males at the Pairs Fanfest didn't help the hype for it. Many people had most likely brushed off the leaks as rumor as many leaks are. None of this was helped by the fact they had multiple pieces of concept art for male Vieras that they showed publicly only building the hype.

People are allowed to be upset that instead of getting one whole race, one that was certainly in demand for a long time, they only get half of it and then told that hey instead of doing the full race we did this other race instead! Oh and we made the creation for both these only half of a race super deep and customizable because we didn't do the other gender! And that just makes it suck even more!

While I wanted male Viera I am certainly happy with the fact we are gettin a new Beasty race but with that now I would love to make a cool fierce Lion lady! And now I can't do either. And I think that also has caused a lot of the unhappiness that the choice they wanted was taken then a choice they didn't even know they could have was then taken away as well.

Aye they should, but SE should have been more open about it from the start, especially after the initial Viera reveal!

But people make assumptions, they like to make theories as to what going to happen, who's that character, what the plot point here, what location is this. Its all part of the hype lead up to the release of the expansion.

But something as personal as ones avatar people are allowed to be upset in this and express their displeasure. They can do that with their wallets , with forum posts like these in hopes the Devs see it, to making enough noise that Devs have to listen.

I don't know what people expect those disappointed to do, not be disappointed? To just be quite and not try to change the game they pay for as well. To just accept whats given and just be grateful the Devs give us what they do?

How will that help at all in letting the devs and SE know that hey this thing is important to me please do it!

I will not say this is any where near 1.0 in the shear incompetence and disregard the devs have. But this sort of "Just be happy you get what you get, don't question it" attitude can lead down such paths. We are not beholden to the developers we don't owe them loyalty or blind faith. We make mistakes, they make mistakes and its okay to be critical of the things you like and love!
