Gender locked race?

With the First around the corner they can kind of tweak the lore though. I mean, lala's are a beast tribe and you're trying to restore darkness instead of light. They should switch it up in the first so that females are rare instead of males.

The lore isn't a particularly strong reason not to have them, as it applies to male moon cats as well, and various jobs limited in number, like WHM. It's a rather weak excuse.
