Gender locked race?

I'd rather be waiting for a fanfest because I came from the last one with positive reactions, not stressing over whether or not the next one will address the concerns the previous one started in the first place.
The game isn't small enough for them to put off showing 1/2 of a player race. An entire expansion just isn't strapped for discussion material like that.

so much this my hype is conflicted and it could've been fine if they just showed a piece of artwork at least for males it would be silly to genderlock a race either way now after so long :s

$5 they didn't finish the male models in time, and thus left them to the next fan festival. Same reason why they didn't announce the 8 man raids either. Also the Au Ra were announced at the tokyo fan festival, so they are ahead of schedule.

5 months until an expansion and not having a complete model of a race is troubling. Tons of animations to do and make sure seams don't show for them, plus gear outfitting, and making sure there are no issues in cutscenes. That is not very much time.

Considering we have Fran, and very close to how she looks, and how Viera behave, etc. all fairly closely matching that of their titles, I'm going to assume they were talking about the story within the 24-man being part of those games canonly. That's a bit different, especially when you take a step back... and I think... they said this new raid is actually canon with Nier? I might have misread that. Still, I don't think male Viera will be playable. I know people are still hoping, but I seriously would find it in such poor taste to only show half of a race.

1. idk what to tell you man, but no they're not the same universes. XIV can do whatever it takes to make ivalice fun, they don't have to stick to some arbitrary laws of lore to a completely different story.
2. It is in poor taste to only show half a race, but it is in worse taste to only make half a race. They corrected the same lazy mistakes with 2.0, and to repeat the same mistakes would show us that they are still reluctant to learn anything from that failure.

I think this thread is premature. There is an art panel where Yoshi specifically said we'll get more information. Wait until then to see if they don't show bunny boys and then take to the forums to riot lol.

Plus there's the Lore... ALREADY IN THE GAME BY THE WAY, about the males. They're not going to write all this extensive stuff about males and not use it.

Anyone know how the JP forums are reacting to this? Are they upset about no males or just gung-ho on Vieras existing (or totally silent)?

From what I've seen on twitter from JP fandom, they're also Not Happy.

wouldn't say its premature SE went out of its way to omit males from everything shown with no reason we are just left hanging for a day? nearly 2 months? its silly to do that comfirming one way or the other is better than left hanging and hoping they didn't even need to show just confirm
