More work for less of a meaningful impact as an addition to the game. Not really sure the point you're trying to make? Of course a new race requires more art asset development especially at a point when a lot of art assets are needed (new zones, new dungeons, new armor and weapons, new primals, new enemies etc.)

It doesn't change the fact that compared to new jobs, new races are far less important additions to the game. It's why they're saying they're likely done adding new races, while introducing the limited job system to add additional jobs to the game.

For you obviously. For others new races are very important. I know for me I was pretty disappointed SB didn't have one. I'm looking forward to ShB with great anticipation. I'm so happy we're getting one and maybe two new races.

New jobs offer new playstyles so ofc they offer a more of an impact than a cosmetic one which is why its more baffling to lock it what is the point in locking male viera? Blu just needs a few changes and its good to go in duty finder(at least in my eyes) its lock is currently arbitrary so why do you seem so gungho about accepting gender locked viera?

We can keep doing a back and forth till we are both blue in the face we will not see eye to eye lets just wait and see for Tokyo fan fest i will remain hopeful till then

Tbh I'd rather have BLU not limited than male viera.
Both would be the cherry on my cake.

When asked about male Viera, Yoshida said we'd get info about them at the Tokyo Fanfest. If the answer were "no, we're not getting them" it wouldn't make any sense to have a special reveal about that, let alone a teaser about an upcoming reveal. The only way his comment makes sense is if we're getting both genders, but the reveal videos are being released separately.

That probably indicates the males weren't ready yet when they were preparing the first reveal, and perhaps could suggest that the males and females are quite different from each other. But that we're getting both in some fashion has essentially been confirmed. The only thing we still don't know is what the males look like.

(Personally, I'm hoping for something close to the old concept art that shows them quite similar in build to the females, just slightly shorter. Ronso-like would be cool, too. If they end up with the little cute version, well, I guess there's other people who might like that, even if I'm not one of them.)

Except that talking about/confirming no male viera still falls under the umbrella of "information about male viera at tokyo fanfest." It absolutely does make sense to hold off on revealing something like a genderlocked race so they can spend more time explaining the why's and cushion the backlash with even bigger reveals, such as the new 8 man raid, the full trailer, the next job of which there has been no hints etc.

The thing that doesn't make sense is if they just needed more work he could have and would have said so, he has never had any problem in the past (and even at that very same fanfest) telling the players they can't show something because it's not quite ready yet.

He has shown an incredible reluctance to even state they're coming which is very telling, only avoiding the questions or copping out and deferring to the next fanfest.

My argument for this is simple, Matsuno/Masuno? wasn't there at Paris. The Viera are his creation; that's why he wrote the lore for the 24man regarding Viera, all of it. From the males to the females. In my opinion it wasn't Yoshida's place to make that announcement, it would be Matsuno* who would be doing the announcement. As for why Matsuno didn't announce the females, simple, everyone knows about them already. We've seen the lore, we've seen how they look - we already saw Fran in the 24man. Viera males, if they will be shown - who knows at this point - are completely new. And the design is more than likely to come from Matsuno than it is Yoshida. And it's more than likely going to be announced where it all started, Japan.

We could all argue to the cows come home that Matsuno was the originally the one never added them in the first place, and my argument is - he did add them by simply giving us the lore for them. He set the base lore regarding them; there was just no reason for them to be shown. Not even in FF12 due to the fact we had Fran in the party when we entered the jungle - Fran being the sister of the Matriarch of the main clan. They had zero reasons to shoot, but more than likely off screen they were watching.

    Shrugs;
If they're not added and we get 'bara khajjit' and thus have to play as Tony Maiq the Liar- I mean Tiger, I mean lion, then so be it. I'd question why they did it, I'd complain, I'd still play the game but my excitement for the expansion will diminish - I won't cancel my preorder but it will ruin a bit of it for me. I don't expect people to get that, why this would bother me so - but it would, and I honestly shouldn't have to explain that - no one should really. We already have a feline race - there was no need for another. There are plenty of other animals they could have taken inspiration of to make a new male-only race, but I digress...

I feel like people who wanted Blu mage got shafted and have a right to complain. I also think that those who wish to play as male Viera should also be concerned even more so due to the condition Blu is in. Neither group should be going 'well we have it worse', as right now Blu Mages certainly have the crappy end of the stick. But damn, you also have to realise that the only reason a lot of us are threating is that we dont want to end up in the same boat.

Lol, you reply everyone, you dont work or sleep? XD
Still thin we will get rev or a new race. What is kinda odd is that blufever never said anything about locked race, so male is not totally off.

Rev is about as likely as me playing Au Ra or Viera. Very unlikely, especially as they're less popular than FFXIV's beastmen and not as well known compared to FFVIII's Shumi (since you actually fight one, whereas Rev in FFXII... there's what, only two in the entire game?).

Rev does seem unlikely but a possibility if this lion race is completely separate from the Viera.

What I don't understand is if they were going to add in a male-only race then why not add the male-only race that they actually showed in FF12? The Garif? Just like the Viera, the Garif had a tribe which showed only one sex but they still spoke of their females living in another tribe - which led people to think that Viera and Garif were the same.

And of course, an argument here for why Viera males weren't added - Garif females weren't added either but we know they exist.

'This race of large-framed, well-muscled humanoids have bodies covered in thick fur.
The Garif adorn themselves simply with ornaments of stone and bone, preferring natural objects over those crafted or otherwise unchanged from their original form. The one exception is their masks: each is unique, and is worn for the duration of the owner's life.
The Garif worship magicite as a sacred substance, and possess deep cultural knowledge of the stones.'

We know they go out on adventures; you can see them doing this in FF12. If the issue is with the mask then it makes perfect sense for one who has left their clan and no longer worships the 'stones' - which are crystals btw - to remove their mask.

Furthermore; we don't know what they look like without their masks. Only that they are tall, muscular, have body fur, have pointed elf like ears and are hunched over a little - but this is likely due to the weight of the bone mask.
