As a small aside, I do feel like they need to cut down on the number of fanfests. Even back during Heavenward and Stormblood's reveals the information came at an almost painful crawl due to them needing to show something flashy for each event to make it relevant. In which it would be really lame to get the other gender of a race already announced? Even if that is how they do it (which is not how they did au ra) it would just be them trying to fill space with info they've already released. Are we suggesting they've started handling their fanfests the way they handle their segmented patches?
Now that you mention it, it does seem rather suspicious that they have stressed "this will probably be the last race" more than once. Are they notorious for announcing "this is the last time we're doing this" during their FanFests? I've only recently started getting into the FF franchise, so I'm no expert on the subject (hence my reasoning for this discussion).A friend over at GameFAQs, I think? It's an outside source that has predicted things in the past with high success rates. So far in most recent rumors, they leaked Gunblade as a tank. They leaked 'Adam and Eve' for the final raid tier that we have now, as well as Omega as the third fight, Chaos as the first and Midgardsormr. They predicted Dancer for Shadowbringers, too, and two new races, one of which was Viera. The second race they left out because it's a 'story spoiler.'
Right. They retconned a lot of lore in regards to 1.0. However, Viera belong to a different installment of Final Fantasy with a very specific lore and players did ask for Viera. READ: Players did not ask for an original FFXIV bunny race. They asked for a race from Ivalice. I'm just sayin'.
If they didn't want us to worry, they wouldn't be coy with us as if they didn't have a track record of cutting corners on their player race choices.
Except catboys and femroes are literally the best modeled and animated characters in ARR.
Merlwyb is literally bestgirl.
Thats literally the point I was making. 1.0 lore had Miqos gender locked to female only because the males were rare and kept back at home for breeding. In-game (msq/open world/siedquests/etc) the male miqo representation is about right: for every male you see an army of females. Other player's characters don't really matter in the grand scheme of lore because as far as MSQ is concerned the other players' WoLs don't exist.
Yeah, that's something that gets hit on a lot that a lot of players seem to discard. There's only one Warrior of Light in the story. Other player characters you pick up are just adventurers and are even referred to as such. Final Fantasy sticks to their established lore. Those two male Miqo'te you happen to have in party might be the only two male Miqo'te for that whole region. They're just not part of your story. Basically, people not separating game mechanics from game story/lore.Thats literally the point I was making. 1.0 lore had Miqos gender locked to female only because the males were rare and kept back at home for breeding. There's one Chosen of Hydaelyn, there's many Warriors of Light according to ARR. They somewhat dropped/retconned the plotpoint in subsequent expansions, but they're pretty specific about there being multiple people who made the time leap from Carteanu at the start of the MSQ.Yeah, that's something that gets hit on a lot that a lot of players seem to discard. It is outright stated that xiv's ivalice is not 12/tactics ivalice. Canon is, or ate least should be, determined by what makes the game fun to play, not beholden to some unrelated story in an unrelated universe.Right. They retconned a lot of lore in regards to 1.0. However, Viera belong to a different installment of Final Fantasy with a very specific lore and players did ask for Viera. READ: Players did not ask for an original FFXIV bunny race. And I'd put money that "we want viera" was said not because people wanted them to ctrl + c, ctrl + v from 12/tactics, lazy restrictions and all, but because it was easier to say than "we want a demihuman race that is of another familiar pet species, but not too smol and brutish like miqo'te, but more refined like elezen"
There will be a male race, but as of right now.. I doubt it will be something that the majority wants.
All I want is another good looking race, with proper run animations and new faces.
Next time please, skip new race thing. Work on current races, refine them, add more face shapes. Most of us crave for new races because current one's still need a bit reworking/new features.
