Gender locked race?

While I am happy to be a female Viera since I am a girl, I would be utterly pissed off if my Boyfriend couldn't be a Male Viera with me as we always liked matching our race and even gear when possible. I keep a glimpse of hope that they will be reveal at Japan Fanfest and we will both play the game even if it's not available but I really do hope they will be available because I won't be Viera if he can't be one as well.

I'd be pretty confident to say that they will reveal male Viera based on that, otherwise it'd lead to just greater disappointment for those who want it.

My big issue with this statement is that it's not confirmation one way or another. We know we're getting Viera... they just revealed that. Are you telling me that revealing male Viera is going to be something worthy of the biggest and final Fanfest for Shadowbringers? It's been mentioned that in the past they revealed concept art for both genders of Viera, however, it's rather curious that at the art panel, there wasn't even a sketch present; not even a quote saying "it's in the works" or anything of the sort.

Gender Lock isn't why 1.0 turned out the way it did.

And Tera devs actually credit the Elin for being what saved the game. They have a culture in that game that loves them some Elin toons. It's why they get the most classes ... so they're pretty much riding the back of a gender locked race for profits.

Tera did lose more people over this. Not all are pedos you know.

I don't really understand the "young Elezen" comment, to me Alphinaud and Alisaie just look like humes with pointy ears, they are not disproportionate, why not just call it "young humes" ? I am sure it will just look like a hume with bunny ears any way lmao

Not having male Viera is unacceptable. Gender locking races is silly and completely archaic. The concept shown previously alongside what looks to be the most similar to classic viera of their male counterpart was excellent, having these strong, deadly bunny men playable is something we've wanted for a long, long time. I've personally been yearning to fantasia both my main and alt to a Viera of each gender. Honestly, Viera were the biggest reason I was lured in to playing XIV at all back at the launch of ARR. Please don't make the mistake of gender locking Viera to female characters only SE!

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if they're waiting because of one of the main characters for Shadowbringers on the NPC side of things is a male Viera?

And the big reveal for JP fan fest would be another extension on the trailer with him in top notch CGI. Or of course, a clip of him meeting the WoL - totally could be our Estinien/Hein of the expansion.

Well, the leaker did mention thra while Viera was going to be a race, the second "lion race" was going to be left without too many details because he would have to spoil the mainstory in order to give those details. So it's not too far-fetched to wonder if the male Viera, or the supposed-to-be male only race is going to show up during the mainstory.
Next fanfest is on March 23rd and I think the next patch is March 25th. So it would make sense if they are waiting to reveal a concept that is going to be used right afterwards by an NPC. We have to keep in mind that we still need a mainstory connection with the Viera, because so far if you decide not to do the 24 man raids, Fran and her people don't even exist to you or your WoL.

It wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me, especially assuming this would come with a male only race, but I'd honestly rather just get male viera instead of split races for RP reasons.

Whatever lore reasons they could contrive to not have playable male viera, keep in mind SE writes they lore...they could have just not written the lore that way.

I keep hearing about the lion race; part of me doesn't think it's playable - even with those 'leaks'. Especially when with 'R' being mentioned to being it. But with us being in Ivalice and around it; there was another 'lion' race, one which even 'Cid' was. They were the 'Rev'
