Just because they didn't mention anything, it doesn't instantly mean they're not a thing.


Don't really understand how people can't see that way of thinking instead of the extreme "Nothing, so NOT A THING!!!!!!!"

I generally agree with the sentiment, but this reveal doesn't exist in a vacuum. It comes along with a rickety history of how SE treats its male characters and their glamour. That one lone quote saying we'd see more in the Tokyo Fanfest makes me think more along what you do, but they could've easily said something like that too in a Q&A or something in fanfest itself. Just half a bone thrown that this isn't everything we'll see to Viera would've gone a long way, just half an acknowledgement. But they didn't, they dodged any questions regarding Viera in the panels that I saw, and the climate is that we're in a situation where Viera being gender locked is something a lot of people think is actually possible, which is really something SE shouldn't have let happen. If bunny boys exist, what's the harm of showing or at least acknowledging them? If bunny boys don't exist, all they're doing right now is stringing people along by giving us hope we'll see them in the next FanFest, only to break those hopes then.

I'd be pretty confident to say that they will reveal male Viera based on that, otherwise it'd lead to just greater disappointment for those who want it.

Gender Lock isn't why 1.0 turned out the way it did.

And Tera devs actually credit the Elin for being what saved the game. They have a culture in that game that loves them some Elin toons. It's why they get the most classes ... so they're pretty much riding the back of a gender locked race for profits.

You must be the kind of person that reads a statement then replies without actually thinking about what you just read. "Look at 1.0 and how well gender-locking worked there." This had nothing to do with the reason 1.0 wasn't successful. It was regarding the gender-locking OF 1.0. People were not happy about it at all. They complained often about not being able to make a male Miqo'te or a Female Roe. Nowhere in my statement did I say -- or even imply -- that 1.0 failed because of it, and if that's what you took away from it, then I believe that tells us everything we need to know about your argument.

My big issue with this statement is that it's not confirmation one way or another. We know we're getting Viera... they just revealed that. Are you telling me that revealing male Viera is going to be something worthy of the biggest and final Fanfest for Shadowbringers? It's been mentioned that in the past they revealed concept art for both genders of Viera, however, it's rather curious that at the art panel, there wasn't even a sketch present; not even a quote saying "it's in the works" or anything of the sort.

But, seeing the "No" option as an ABSOLUTE at this point in time is still a little extreme.
I do not want it to be genderlocked either as it makes no sense no matter what anybody says. But i do not UNDERSTAND why it is one thing suddenly and not "maybe"

There's lots of reason to why they weren't announced yet.
And you should and need to aknowledge that they can have a basemodel without any bones(hence it can't move) and already work on this. If it's not able to be showed yet, they don't HAVE to. Neither do they have to mention them if it's not ready yet.

But they also didn't include a slider that said "female only", so it is not an absolute.
And a question got dodged with "wait".

It's a big MAYBE.
Neither a yes or a no.
I think we should all see that it's that and not just jump to conclusions without it being stated? At least i think so.

It is, probably, though they did say that younger Viera are basically androgynous until early teens. As for concept art, they showed in the past male Viera designs as well, which is why I'm personally more annoyed with their PR tactics rather than honestly despaired. They're probably banking on the disdain to generate more buzz and word of mouth, and then they can be the savior heroes when they finally reveal the obvious male counterpart.

But if that's concept art, i rather think it's more like the "they look like young elezen" variant. Feol, maybe? They DID mention that there is a versiont hat is more young elezenlike
Doubt they do concept art of children, it was alongside the other ones back then, so i assume it's just a variation.

I don't really understand the "young Elezen" comment, to me Alphinaud and Alisaie just look like humes with pointy ears, they are not disproportionate, why not just call it "young humes" ? I am sure it will just look like a hume with bunny ears any way lmao
