Btw I love the four hairstyles they've shown so far.
With the Ronso I feel like we only need the Qu to be playable so I can have Quina as a proper BLU lol

The amount of hyperbole in this thread is real.
Let me try! They should remove all genders and races. Then we can all be bald and androgynous. Then they can design simple one piece unisex leotards for everyone to wear which only come in grey Unless you do savage then you get a beige one!
sigh most of this thread is before we have had any indication of why male viera was excluded from everything not even mentioned by anyone even at the lead artist panel it took way too long for a response from anybody that we would need to wait till Tokyo fan fest for a reason why that is Viera has been long wanted both males and females and the complete omission they did caused at lot of people concerns something that could've been alleviated if they just did a joke or a passing mention of wait and see but they said nothing and this is rightly the result of itThe amount of hyperbole in this thread is real.

People who want more races and gender want DIVERSITY, it's the opposite of your sarcastic message. The amount of hyperbole in this thread is real.

Will keep my thoughts on what was revealed of Viera in another thread because this is more accurate in this one:
Been a big proponent of male Viera for years so this is disappointing, to say the least. Not just because I figured they'd learn after the bunny outfit fiasco AND the 1.0 single-gender races (thanks to my meds waking me up in the middle of the night I could catch the keynote, a friend caught how my heart sank during the trailer).
So I'll not be preordering until JP Fan Fest at the least, and if males won't be in the game, I guess I won't pre-order, period. Maybe I'll get it at launch, or maybe I won't until the static is getting ready to raid, in which case I may get it and have them carry me through the content... or not. It all depends on JP Fan Fest.
Also, I will be royally pissed if it DOES turn out that instead of male Viera we're getting a male-only bestial race, mostly because it perpetuates the stereotype of "Men can be as rugged and bestial as they want, but women have to be gorgeous" so prevalent in Fantasy (Look at Orcs, or Dwarves in most media: Male Orcs look like the Hulk with ugly faces and tusks, women look like...well, She-Hulk, an athletic model; male Dwarves are a little tin can with hair, female dwarves are short and stout valkyries with huge boobs).

Gender locking is actually a step back for the game since FFXIV 1.0 only had female Migo and male Roe. It wasn't until Yoshi-P took over that we had male and female for every race.

From the time they pretty much showed up in Tactics, the Viera race has mainly been shown on the female side...
There is such a thing as trying too hard to find something to complain about.

And Mithra were female only as well, with males never being seen... until Lehko Habhoka in Wings of the Goddess. There's no reason why they couldn't just say "they are being worked on, they're just not ready yet." Before people say "it's to build hype," yeah nah. It's clearly doing the opposite.
