Gender locked race?

Levi is presented as an adult. He's also quite clearly a man. Let's not pretend as if that's what is being requested by some within this thread.

If you want to create a character that looks like Levi, you can already do that using the Midlander model. That's what the height slider and muscle tone slider are for.

Uh, yeah? I never claimed anything else regarding Levi. My point, which you completely missed apparently, had NOTHING to do with age or masculinity. I was pointing out height and slimness since some people had a problem picturing a small person as a Viera or those things I listed. You might think Midlander is a good fit but I don't. Sliders doesn't go short enough, and their bodies are too stocky. You guys got kinda chubby thighs. Miqos are too compact and stocky too.

I looked up who this Levi character is and their height is 5'3 (also he's in his early 30's. Fun fact, Asahi was 27). So a littler shorter than what Midlanders allow (5'6). Miqo'te males, however, can go as low as 5'2 (and probably have the same muscle mass as this Levi fellow. Probably).

His height and age is one of the things that makes him even sexier. XD He's 160cms for those of you who prefer seeing height in cms. Have you never seen/read Attack on Titan? You should really check it out! Manga is better in my humble opinion.

But about Miqos matching Levi, as I said above, not slim enough. Levi is really thin.

His agility is largely a consequence of the equipment he uses. It's a flawed argument, though it's pretty clear that those arguing for a 'short character' care very little about Viera and are pretty shameless about trying to hijack them into being something that they're not.

I imagine Viera men looking like the concept art posted very early on in the thread would appease the greater amount of players compared to making them very short and slender. It'd also fit better with how they're presented in the lore.

I find it hilarious that you don’t see the irony in what you said. You keep repeating the same thing over and over. Even after someone proves that your ideas are just that ideas. You keep acting as if you have some profound authority of what the viera should be and are constantly trying to shut down the ideas of other.

Man there's no reason to attack other people's characters because they want/envision something different from you. I don't know how many times it needs to be mentioned that if this game's lore was a limiting factor then most of the female player models would not be the waifu material they are. People don't need to make lore arguments to justify a preference and they certainly shouldn't have to look for evidence to prove something as incredibly obvious as "some men are short and thin and they exist" in order to request for that to be represented in-game. They don't need to concern themselves with how much of a true Scotsman they are how much they care about Viera when the devs already have modified the female counterparts to their preference, and the males have never shown up regardless.

It isn't shameful to request something just because you personally don't want it, just as it isn't shameful for you express that you personally would rather have something else.

And the best thing: people will still think it'll do something because how important their opinion is.
Then they'll get disappointed because "SE doesn't listen to the community! OMG I'm cancelling my 6 years sub."

The only thing 'hilarious' about all this is that those posters expression 'concern' are as quiet as a mouse when people throw around genuinely hurtful or controversial statements, yet somehow take major issue with me pointing out that I don't particularly care for Viera men to be designed to be overly feminine, androgynous or short.

You've yet to prove anything other than banding together with a handful of other posters to repeatedly request the above. So let's not pretend your issue is that I'm repeating myself - you've done as much yourself and have remained silent when others echoing your arguments have done the very same thing.

I don't particularly care for tone policing, either. Unless what is being posted is explicitly against the forum code of conduct. The game attracts people from all over the world and expecting everybody to debate according to your personal tastes is a futile endeavor.

I guess you could say for those wanting males don't be too surprised if it doesn't happen if it does great but don't be too hopefuls that you aren't totally let down you more so than you might already be. If it is gender locked disappointing of course but we'll see this weekend of what else any new announcements and what else is being added.

I'm referring mostly to the "shameless", trying to make a race into "something they're not", and comments insinuating that people who don't want a tall muscular race must want to play as kids. And now that I have an "agenda" @@. I haven't seen anything recently that is that inflammatory in regards to Ronso but I'm only just checking this thread today. I love beast races and always play them when I'm allowed to be a female beast race. Regardless I'm not sure how the appearance the Hrothgar will take on has any impact on how people would like male Viera to look, but again I may have missed a few pages somewhere.

I do apologize if I've quoted you a lot recently. I promise I'm not intentionally picking on anyone in particular. I am not intending to police tone so much as I do not understand why there is much of a debate requiring personal belittlement happening at all. I feel like people in this thread and even on this forum in general are quick to turn any topic, regardless of its subject, into a debate of serious personal importance. It's not enough to say that you would personally like a race to be genderlocked/not genderlocked, or that you would like a race to be muscular/thin, people also have to get at other's opinions in inflammatory ways that attempt to shut them down (i.e. saying that another group is "shamelessly" hijacking a thread with their opinions)

I've said in the past that there aren't many ways they could design male Viera that would disappoint me. I liked the concept art a lot, but I also love how the Viera looked in XII and wish the trailer had represented the female Viera more along those lines, but I think I'd still like most male designs regardless. I think the only body type I'm adverse to on them is "extremely muscular", just because it's not my preference and has been a bit saturated on the MMO market. That said I don't see anything unreasonable about people wanting that, even if I don't.

Yeah the closer we get to fanfest the harder of a time I have believing they'll reveal male Viera. If it was two unlocked races they would have shown the males with the females instead of shuffling a full race reveal + awkwardly reveal the other half of the race shown at the last fanfest at the same time. It would be lovely to be wrong but I'm keeping these hopes rock bottom.

I'd say it could go either way at this point. Since we've never actually seen the men before outside of some concept art that could be the reason why they're being so evasive as they want it to be its own separate reveal for the sake of publicity and marketing. On the other hand, some of the past statements that they've made imply they're simply not all that keen on the idea of bunny men and they've been deliberately written in the exact same manner as they were back in FFXII where they never showed up at all.

Either way, I find gender locks to be silly but it'll be mitigated so long as they provide us with something to balance out Viera women. Whether it's Viera men, Hrothgar or something else entirely doesn't concern me too much. Extra points if they look decent, though.

I'm already content with my Midlander and I have Xaela/Raen/Highlander men as potential backup options if I happen to fancy a change in the future. So I won't be too torn up over it. Most of my eagerness for Fan Fest revolves around the other announcements that we're due to get. My biggest desire would be a Witcher 3 crossover event since Geralt showed up in both Monster Hunter World and Soul Calibur 6, so having him show up in FFXIV as well would be pretty brilliant. Especially if it led us to getting some more 'realistic' looking armour and weaponry.

Just because we saw 1-2 dainty looking faces doesn't mean there isn't a combination of female viera that looks like they get into bar fights nightly and wins.

I still think lore helps imagine what the race should/could be and so far pretty much every playable race has fit the lore besides maybe female Au ra,
Lore definitely doesn't set things in stone but its definitely a huge part of this game and 95% of npcs do work with the lore.

Don't get upset over opinions some people are just over reacting throwing out false claims.
