Gender locked race?

I hope your wrong too but I don't think so. They've never announced just one gender of a race before. And the removed the males from all their concept art that they showed at the panels and everything.

The dream is dead.

Leaks suggest ronso from ffx would be the male equivalent for viera. The big blue furry lion dudes.

So Tokyo fanfest will likely be, "you may have noticed no males! Well worry not we have ronso here for you!"

I don't think I want to be a massive lumbering beast man instead of a cute bunny boy but oh well lol.

This is my first XIV expansion release, so I can’t say I know how things generally go with this game, but from my time elsewhere I would say the prospect of male viera isn’t looking good. This type of behavior from a developer generally doesn’t bode well imo, and player concerns are often born out, despite some players insisting we should just wait and see and give the benefit of the doubt. I would love to hold out hope and believe that they’ve just decided not to reveal the male yet for whatever reason, but since I’ve seen things like this happen many times with before, the cynic in me says they didn’t reveal it because it doesn’t exist, and it’ll just be damage control from here on out. Hope I’m wrong.

Not really as you could see by the character creator all the phases that they pass just to do one character it is complex not a simple process can only guess they show when they are really sure of their final decisions either to a model or male race concept small details to not create any unnecessary expectations on players that will rage to forums if they decide a change for later.

I really hope viera is not gender locked. I love the female viera models, but I also want playable male viera as well.

It's really bad when they do not mention anything at all.
They could write Female only available on the Viera presentation slides.
It's like they were trying to slip it under the carpet and let it go unnoticed.
I don't know if they reveal another male only playable race (as per the leaks at least it was supposed to be 2 different races) but I feel they didn't handle this well.
It's dishonest. If you decide to make a female only race have the guts at least to say it and not let people speculate.
I hope they don't start a silly "limited" trend now.

Just want to point out...lesbian women may/will also fawn over the 'sexy women' Viera, so in this sense SE is not ignoring 'women' - just some women who happen to prefer men. One can't lump all women into one group and say they're being ignored by not having male Viera for them to likewise fawn over.

Yes, that's true. There's definitely gonna be a lot of happy lesbians amongst all the happy guys lol. They are an a+ high quality race if you're attracted to women across the board.

I always assumed Viera were born of the Wood. Like from some giant tree. (Been a while since I played FF12 and FFT obviously). But the fact that they mention males at all is telling. They could secretly do the Rev race for an all male counterpart (which is the lion race everyone is talking about i guess). But i too find it unfair if they exclude males of some kind. In any case my prediction for 5.0 will be: bunny!THOTs. Bunny!THOTs everywhere.

There was concept art of a sub race called feol around previously that was both cute male and female bunnies, with more feminine males, and I was WHOLE HEARTEDLY in support of that because my god they were cute. And at the end of the day id play cute over eye candy every time lol.

But the existence of feol will probably not be confirmed or denied until Tokyo fan fest so I see no reason to despair about that, especially since the males have been cropped out of the feol concept art lol.

So we have confirmation of the eye candy viera females, and hope for the cuter smaller feol females. And not very likely for the male equivalent of either.

Eye candy viera males with a sun race of cute, more femenine bun boys to choose from... My God that was the dream. I don't think SE shares the dream though. Sad days.
