Then I do wonder how far behind they are if they dont even have the emotes for them ready. I mean that fanfest was still not that far away from the expansion so it would be a bit strange for them to have not finished the race.

At least three of the faces shown look vastly different to me. Let's have a look from a different point in the reveal trailer.

they all do look different, but I still think the base face is the same. You can do a lot with the customization options. Like even from those angles, you can see that the cheeks and chin stay pretty much the same.

they also use the same ear type when we know their are different variants which don't help with not pointing out how similar they are and probably leads credence that the Viera trailer was rushed

While the emotes are similar, they are not identical. This notion that they just copied Au Ra emotes has been a falsehood spread from the beginning. None of the actual emotes shown were copied, and some of the cposes look similar but that's it, many races have similar cposes because they often follow the same kind of poses, such as arms crossed or hands on hips. There is significant differences in the leg positions for the Viera ones that absolutely differentiate them from other similar poses.
